Rightly dividing the word of God

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

When a minister or person in the congregation "rightly divides the Word of God" he shows all that he is approved by God.  Conversely, if a minister or member of the body of Christ wrongly divides the word of God we can know that person is not approved by God.

For example:

Mt. 16 ... When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:  some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Some church people are taught (and believe) the rock Jesus is speaking of is Peter.  They wrongly divide the Word of God.  When we hear such things, we can know these people are not approved by God.  They are not seeing scripture by the Spirit of God.   So we just walk away from them.

What is the rock Jesus is speaking of here?  The rock is the revealed word which God spoke to Peter.  And it is upon that revealed word that the church is built.  When God speaks directly to us to show us something, the gates of hell cannot prevail against that word for it is from God HIMSELF and nothing can stand against that which God says.  The church is built upon the word revealed by God.  This is rightly dividing the word of God by the Spirit of God as presented in Mt. 16.

II Tim. 2:15 ... Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Many study the word of God and still wrongly divide the word of God.  They study by ways of men.  They take a subject and look up writings of men on that subject and they choose the writing that suits them.  This won't work in things of God.

Studying by the Holy Spirit is completely different from studying by the ways of men.  When we study by the Holy Spirit we depend on the Holy Spirit to teach us and to guide us and to point out that which we should study.  We begin reading Bible and when Holy Spirit reminds us of another scripture, we stop and read that scripture, comparing spiritual with spiritual, led by the Spirit of God.

I Cor. 2 ... For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

For more than 30 years, there was a woman in our little church group who troubled me greatly.  When she spoke she was twisted.  I was greatly disturbed by her.  At that time, I didn't understand that her wrong division of the word of God was showing that she didn't belong to God.  Had she belonged to God she would have rightly divided the word of God.  Finally, I said to her, "I just don't feel right about taking your tithes/offerings because I know you are not approved by God."  (She stopped sending money after that.)  Twice, as I spoke to her that day, I said, "I know you are not approved by God."  I was right about this.  She was not approved by God.  For had she been approved by God, the words she spoke would have been rightly divided by the Spirit of God.

So when a minister or a person in the congregation speaks wrongly divided doctrine, they show they are not approved by God.  We will not be able to change them.  All we can do to live in peace is to walk away from them when they identify themselves to us as wrongly dividing the word of God.  It is not that they need more time or are immature.  They just do not have the Spirit of God and therefore cannot bring forth fruits from God.

There was a man who very much wanted to be around me.  He wanted me to teach him.  He kept telling me he could take correction.  I just walked away from him.  He did not handle the word of God carefully.  He, by his own mind, kept adding things to scripture.  The few times I corrected specific things he did back down.  But he just twisted something else.  It would have been impossible for me to work with him for he did not show being led by the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:9 ... Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Then there are those (a few) who show they understand immediately what I am saying.  And when they speak, I understand what they are saying.  We are of God and can continue together in things of God.
