Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses,
when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy
the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater
riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of
the reward. 27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the
king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
As I considered Moses choosing to
suffer affliction with the children of God rather than continuing as the son of
Pharaoh's daughter, I thought of how we often suffer such things as
ridicule and hatred when we speak and do as led by the Holy Spirit instead of
seeking acceptance by those of the world.
Whereas we once lived as the world, God has chosen us to be His children, giving us the Holy
Spirit to teach and guide us according to His word in His ways. The love
and care God has for us is far greater treasure than being accepted by those of
the world.
John 15:19 If ye were of the
world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I
have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
And like Moses who had respect unto the recompence of the
reward,
we also have promises of reward when we endure reproach for doing the will of
God …
Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when
men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and
shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great
in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
