Those who turn from God and worship other gods

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

The Old Testament examples are helpful to us today in showing us various acts of God.  Here is an example of God dealing with His chosen when such turns away from Him.

II Chronicles 25 ... This example concerns Amaziah, the king of Judah ...

11And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
(God gave Amaziah the victory over Seir)

... Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them. 15Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand? 16And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

Then Amaziah purposed to fight the king of Israel and the king of Israel tried to stop him and said to him, Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee? 20But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom. II Chronicles 25:20

In the battle, Judah was defeated by Israel.  And the king of Judah was carried away captive and great spoil was taken from Judah and although Amaziah lived another 15 years he was apparently in captivity and here is his eventual end.  27Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there. II Chronicles 25:27

TODAY, there are some who identify themselves as Christians and even as Christian ministers.  They come to me, writing me, from all over the world, expressing and love of the work of God and a love of God.  But when a scripture arises that is different from the way they are going they so often reject the scripture in order to continue in their own way.  I believe this is the same thing as Amaziah choosing to worship another god.

And we know in the end times, many will fall away from the scriptures setting up another way inside the church itself.  This is antichrist in the church ... the falling away from scripture ...

Paul explains:  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.  7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
II Thess. 2

And Paul said to Timothy ... II Tim. 4 ... I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I see this often today among church people.  They choose their own preference over the truth presented by the Holy Scripture by the Spirit of God and they explain away scripture choosing another "god".  It is what Amaziah did in the example in II Chronicles 25.
