🎢 Rachmaninov: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini

I Samuel 18:6  And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.

Throughout the Bible, Old and New Testaments, we see God use music in various ways.

When king Saul was troubled by devils, David would play skillfully on the harp, and the devils would leave king Saul.  I Samuel 16:23  And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him. (1 Samuel 16)

One of the greatest violinists in the centuries before us, was Niccolo Paganini (1782-1840).  We know of his skill on violin today because of his compositions for violin which are extremely complex.

Sergei Rachmaninov took one of Paganini's themes and wrote a rhapsody for piano from this music.
