πŸ’₯ God says: Thou shalt have no other gods before ME. (Deut. 5:7)

Recently, I had this concept:  Do not bring before ME other gods and present them to ME.

Deuteronomy 6:14-15  Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve HIM, and shalt swear by HIS name. 14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; 15 (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

There are many movies that I have avoided and will not see, movies based on themes contrary to scripture.  Several movies show dead people watching over the living, and such things.

We, who are of God, have the Holy Spirit living in us.  I would not deliberately bring another god before the Holy Spirit of God.

I Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Judges 2:12  And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other godsof the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

(Forsaking the Word of God to be able to think well of relatives and worldly people.)

A teacher of our Bible class at church always said to us:  Don't look into other religious to see what they do.  Study the Bible and when someone comes to you with wrong doctrine you will recognize that wrong doctrine.

Their gods have no power.  Our God created the heaven and earth and has all power.

God warned king Solomon twice concerning the strange women who would turn his heart away from following God.  But Solomon would not be warned and his downfall were the strange women just as God had told him they would be.

I Kings 11

1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, 10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept MY covenant and MY statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

33 Because that they have forsaken ME, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in MY ways, to do that which is right in MINE
eyes, and to keep MY statutes and MY judgments, as did David his father.

38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in MY ways, and do that is right in MY sight, to keep MY statutes and MY commandments, as David MY servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

I Corinthians 10:11  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

(admonition: counsel or warning)

If we allow people to draw our hearts away to other doctrines it is the same sin as Solomon committed against God.

I Timothy 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
