Leviticus - Part 2 ... Viewing the works of God through scripture

(In NT church, the blood of Jesus is our atonement for sin.  In the OT they had to deal with each sin through blood of animals sacrificed for sin or in some sins there were wheat offering.  God gave specific instruction for each type of sin.  Sometimes the persons sinning had to be stoned to death by the congregation to remove the sin from the congregation.  When we read these ways God set for dealing with sins in OT we get a view of how God felt about these sins although we no longer have these specific dealings for sin that they had in OT.)

Leviticus 6 ... 1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the Lord, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbour;

3 Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:

4 Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,

5 Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.

6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest:7 And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the Lord:and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein.

Leviticus 7 ... 20 But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the Lord, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people. 21 Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which pertain unto the Lord, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

It was important for the people to come before God, not in uncleanness ... Uncleanness does cut us off though usually temporarily ... Unclean people of the world affect me until I turn to God with the specific matter and God restores me from them.

==========

Leviticus 7 ... 25 For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people. 26 Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings. 27 Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

We might be guilty of "eating the blood" of another person through killing that person physically ... or perhaps through killing that person through gossip which is unnecessary and often incorrect in substance.

Neither would I eat the blood of an animal through uncooked meat ... This was important to God.

Leviticus 7 ... 37 This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings; 38 Which the Lord commanded Moses in mount Sinai, in the day that he commanded the children of Israel to offer their oblations unto the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai.

There were several different types of offerings in the OT.

In the NT  the blood of Jesus Christ and HIS sacrifice on the cross pays for our sin.  And then we offer our bodies a "living sacrifice", refusing to continue in sin as we did before Jesus was revealed to us.  Now living to be servants to God rather than servants to the lusts of our own flesh.

Romans 12 ... 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world:but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
