Jesus says:
I can of MINE own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and MY judgment is just; because I seek not MINE own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent ME.
Jesus heard directly from God. And Jesus did that which God told HIM to do.

John 5:30 is one of the first scriptures God showed me after I was born again in 1975.
I realized I could do nothing in things of God without hearing directly from God as Jesus did.
I just read the Holy Bible and did nothing unless I heard from the Holy Spirit.

The night of January 10, 1980, I was asleep in the night. I was awakened by a very loud trumpet-like voice saying the following words to me: "Hartford, Seattle, KWJS"
I jumped out of bed and wrote "KWJS" on a notepad. I found KWJS to be a radio station.
I said to God: "Are YOU telling me to go on radio? I wouldn't know how to do that. I'm a writer, not a speaker."
Immediately the Holy Spirit said to me: "Call the radio station manager."
I called KWJS that same morning and asked to speak to the radio station manager. I told him God might be telling me to go on radio. I asked, "How would you do that?"
The station manager told me to make an audition tape 29 1/2 minutes long and send it to him and if I fit his broadcasting they would offer me a contract.
I got my tape recorder and recorded an audition tape and put it in the noonday mail that same day.
Within 5 days, I was broadcasting exhortations to the church on radio KWJS.
By 1981, I was on radio from coast to coast in USA from "Hartford to Seattle", just like I heard that night in 1980.

We only do that which we hear from God to do. (John 5:30)
But some people copy other people.

18 How that they told you there should be mockers (copiers) in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Some put themselves into ministry work without being called by Jesus. They don't even have the Spirit of God in them. They just decide they can do ministry work and they copy other ministers.

Jesus says the following concerning people who try to do works of God without being told by God to do those works.
Matthew 7
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in THY name? and in THY name have cast out devils? and in THY name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from ME, ye that work iniquity.
