I Cor. 4 ... 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
The power of God is power to change. Don't we remember how God brought us out of the terrible life we lived before we were born again? We were lifted out, changed into a new creation, and set in with other people who had been changed by God as we had been changed by God.
The power of God is a power to control our own flesh through HIS Word. It is real power.
The power of God overcomes in this present life through Him, through HIS Word.
