I Cor. 3 ... The apostle Paul said ...
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (The Word)
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation (The Word) gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest:for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss:but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. (futile/worthless)
If we build on that which God says on the subject at hand, we will never fall.
The wisdom of man is like a leaf lying on the yard. When the wind comes, that leaf moves about which ever way the wind blows. No stability.
The apostle Paul said: Phil. 4:13
I can do all things through Christ (The Word) which strengtheneth me.
When I have a word from God on the issue at hand, I have the strength and power to go in the direction set before me by God. Often when I am having a problem and turn to God for help, HE will remind me of a scripture or a dream or will give me another word, this changes everything. Now I have a sure foundation upon which to go in life.
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (but by The Word, by doing The Word)
People try to go to God without The Word. Jesus is The Word.
When I have a problem in this life and take a scripture and work through that scripture until I can believe that scripture and do that instruction in that scripture, I come to God through HIM, through Jesus, through The Word.
