After repentance, must not continue to do those sins

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

In Jn. 8, we have the story of the woman taken in adultery and brought before Jesus to be judged.

1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned:but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last:and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee:go, and sin no more.

I have often heard preachers preach John 8 in church and to tell their congregations to forgive the sinner as Jesus forgave the woman.  But I have never heard any preacher preach that the sinner is to "go, and sin no more", as Jesus said to this woman.

We are forgiven our sins by Jesus ... but we cannot go back to those sins like that dog returning to it's vomit.

II Peter 2 ... 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Jimmy Swaggart did a tearful repentance in front of TV cameras when he was caught with prostitute.  Swaggart said before all, "I have sinned."  Tears streamed down his face.

A few weeks later, he was caught again with a prostitute and he said to the police officer, "It is flat out none of your business."  (see internet Wikipedia:  Jimmy Swaggart for full story)

If we truly repent, we do not continue in that sin.  We are ashamed of that sin.

We keep the flesh crucified with Christ ... dead ... that we may serve God.  We do this by turning to God in the midst of the temptation and asking for help.

I Cor. 10 ... 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Being ashamed of that sin, we flee from such sins ... Acts 26:20 ... that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

NASB ... Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance.

NIV ... I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.

If that person who calls himself a brother in Christ commits sins of fornication, covetousness, idolatry, railer, drunkeness, extortion, Paul said we are to put such a wicked person as this out of the church.  I Cor. 5

I Cor. 5 ... 1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Paul is saying we are not to judge the world (them that are without) but we are supposed to judge the church (them that are within) in these matters.

Paul says to put such away from us ... put him out of the congregation ... don't even eat with him.

Instead church groups want to keep him in the church and pray for him and counsel him.  This is what they tried to do with Swaggart and he went out and did the same sin again.  But this church group failed to do what Paul said to do and just put the sinner out of the church group.  If you go against that written instruction in the Bible for the church, you will be hurt along with the sinner.

NASB ... I Cor. 5 ... 9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so- called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.

NIV ... I Cor. 5 ...9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked person from among you."

If he calls himself a "brother in Christ" and he is committing fornication, or is covetous, or is an idolater, or is a railer, or is a drunkard, or is an extortioner we are to put him out of the church and not even "eat" with him.

I have experienced such sins in the church multiple times.  One of our Bible teachers at a church I once attended admitted he was committing fornication.  I talked to him and he admitted to me he was doing this.  I said to him,  "You know the Bible as well as I do ... I have to put you out of our church group and can have no more to do with you."  He said, "Yeah ..." He didn't care. He showed no sign of remorse over this sin.  Other church groups readily accepted him as a Bible teacher.  We put him out.

If a man is a homosexual and comes among us saying he is now a Christian, then he puts away his sexual sin and has no more homosexual experience in his life.  But if he continued in homosexuality he should be put out of the congregation.  We cannot accept or approve sins which are denied by God in the Bible.

If a man or woman is a drunkard and says they are Christian, they do not keep drinking.

Many preachers today are extortioners, twisting scripture to ring out of the congregation all the money possible in offerings.  They even misuse scriptures such as promising 100-fold return for offerings when that is not what 100-fold return in Bible states.  These men are extortioners as pastors and we must not go among such when we see them  (Please read:  Evil done by pastors)

Concerning 100-fold return, here is the promise cited in scripture and you see it has nothing at all to do with giving offerings of money at church.

Mk. 10 ... 28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. 29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
