The only way we can overcome is through God. We overcome each issue of this present life through God as we turn to God, committing the issue to HIM, and hear by the Holy Spirit what God wants us to do in the situation. When we do that we overcome.
Several times in the book of Revelation, God speaks to us concerning overcoming.
Rev. 2:7 ... To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Rev. 2:11 ... He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Rev. 2:17 ... To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Rev. 2:26 ... And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star.
Rev. 3:5 ... He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev. 3:12 ... Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Rev. 3:21 ... To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Rev. 21:7-8... 7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
We, who belong to God, are set on this earth and equipped by God to overcome secular and spiritual troubles through God.
We have the power to overcome because God has given us the Holy Spirit to show us what to do in each issue pertaining to this life and when we do that which we are shown by the Holy Spirit we do overcome through God by the will of God in the matter at hand.
Perhaps you do not know how the Holy Spirit can show us what to do. Sometimes a scripture will be called to mind and that shows us how to handle the matter at hand. Sometimes a dream will be called to mind and by that we know what to do.
One thing the Holy Spirit does is this: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jn. 14:26
Certainly we must try the spirit to see if it is the Holy Spirit speaking to us for the devil also can bring thoughts to our mind and the devil can quote scripture to us. The devil quoted scripture to Jesus. Mt. 4
But once we are persuaded it is the Holy Spirit bringing such to our mind, then we have the will of God in the issue at hand and we know what to do.
We can see why it is critical for us to overcome in each issue of this life because overcoming shows us connected to God since we cannot overcome otherwise.
The world does not rule over us but we rule over the world. The people of this world do not rule over us unless we hide the word of God and allow them to rule over us. (If we fail to speak the word we will end up feeling beaten down and depressed ... When we speak the word, God will rule by HIS will.)
I Cor. 7:15 ... But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
If you choose to speak the Word when the various issues of this life surface, if that unbeliever chooses to stay around you with you speaking the word, the time will come that unbeliever will be saved.
So speak the word and rule on this present earth ... The word frees you either way.
I Jn. 4 ... 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
I Jn. 2 ... 18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
