One of the primary things the devil does is to try to turn us away from the direction God gives us by HIS Spirit.
The Word comes to us and the devil says, as he did to Eve, "Has God really said that? That wasn't God."
Or the devil will bring to mind something directly opposite to that which God has shown you.
When this happens, we turn to God in prayer, asking God to show us and to confirm to us HIS word.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (The Word) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Ask God to confirm HIS Word as needed and then hold fast to that word you believe to be from God.

This week, I had a dream. People were trying to destroy us. I was with a small group of people. It was like we were living in Nazi Germany and the enemy was trying to find us to kill us. We kept hiding, staying in our own house. At one point, a door was left open. The enemy was on the other side of that open door. It made it much more difficult to move about in our house without being seen.
We live in our house, inside the Word of God, in the Holy Scriptures.
If a door is open whereby the devil can come into our house, we live in great danger.
If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed;
(Continue: Go on in a specified course of action ... do and keep on doing Jesus' word.)
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

By hearing and doing that which God tells us by HIS Spirit, we will free ourselves from this world and from our own flesh and serve God. And at some point, the truth of God will become very real to us.
