Dealing with graven images

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

One of the scriptures telling us what to do with graven images when we see such is as follows:

Deuteronomy 12:3    ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods,

Pam Padgett's father died and her mother was speaking of several who have died and her mother said, "Now your dad is with them."  as if he was now sitting somewhere visiting with them.

Pam's mother has a "graven image" of what happens after the person dies.

Pam responded by telling her mother (Catholic) the truth.  The person who died is asleep.  When Jesus returns, the dead will awaken and those who are of God will rise to be with Jesus.

I Thessalonians 4:13-17    But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent
(precede) them which are asleep (dead).

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

When you present truth from the Holy Scripture, you "hew down" the graven image which they have built up in their heart.

False images are an abomination to God.

When scripture is discarded and another doctrine is set up in their heart, they have a "graven image" of God in their heart.  It is "an image" of their own thinking, not truth but an image in their own minds.

Deuteronomy 7:25-26   The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.

Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

My cousin's husband died.  She was speaking about taking flowers to his grave.

I said:  "Who are you trying to impress.  Thurman is asleep.  He can't see you at his grave.  He won't know you've brought flowers.  So who are you trying to impress."

My cousin paused briefly and thought this over and replied:  "Then it really doesn't matter where we are buried."

"Right!"  I replied.

Another misconception concerns marriage in heaven ... Some think they will rejoin their dead mate in heaven and continue life as husband and wife.

Jesus explains:

Matthew 22:29-30    Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
