Walking in light

Pam Padgett ... teacher

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jesus, the Word, is light for us in the world, shining in the midst of the darkness of this world.  When we hear from God by the Holy Spirit and believe the word we're given, carefully considering what we're told so our thinking and actions are conformed to that word, a light shines on the way we are to go.

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. ....

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

If we walk in the wisdom and ways of this world, we'll be in darkness and won't know the way we should go.  But when we receive a word from God, we are to believe that word and go in the way illuminated by it, not ignoring it or being distracted, but walking in the light shown by that word.

Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
