Boldness of the righteous

Pam Padgett ... teacher

Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

The righteous are bold as a lion because they are led by God.  They are not acting according to their own wisdom or their own strength.  The righteous turn to God and act based on what the Holy Spirit brings to help them, wisdom and strength from God.  The wicked have no firm basis for what they do, only their own ideas and ideas of other people, and they are easily moved.

Jesus told the following parable ...

Luke 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

When we turn to God, have heard what He speaks to us by the Holy Spirit, carefully consider it, and then act based on that word, we are able to stand even in the midst of adversity; but those without this foundation cannot stand when trouble comes.

We're also told that the man who delights in the law of the Lord and meditates in it day and night will be like a tree planted by rivers of water, bringing forth fruit, and whatsoever he does will prosper.  This man is deeply rooted in the word of God.  But the ungodly, those not seeking to know God's will and to do that, are like the chaff which the wind blows, having no anchor ...

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
