Podcast: The greatness of the Word of God

John 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by HIM; and without HIM was not any thing made that was made.

4 In HIM
(the Word) was life; and the life was the light of men.

One reason Jesus went to the cross and died on the cross was to fulfill the scriptures.

Matthew 26  (Jesus: The Word said.)

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and HE shall presently give ME more than twelve legions of angels?

54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

To me, it is unthinkable for the scriptures to fail!

When Pam Padgett was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer in September 2022, I felt this was an attack against the Word of God.  This just could not be that cancer could win out and defeat what God had planned.

The cancer specialist in Denver planned 4 weeks of Chemotherapy followed by surgical removal of Pam's bladder.  (This would be an horribly unacceptable fate!  To remove an organ of the body created by God?)

My attack against that cancer took the direction that this just could not be.

The following scripture was my guide in prayer and in the action I took in the battle.

James 1:17   Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

I fought this cancer as a legal battle formed against the Word of God.

Also the cancer was against the Word of God in Psalm 91.

The Word says:

Psalm 91

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD (the Word), HE (the Word)
is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in HIM (the Word) will I trust.

3 Surely HE (the Word) shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome (smelly) pestilence.

4 HE (the Word) shall cover thee with HIS feathers, and under HIS wings shalt thou trust: HIS truth (the Word) shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

(This attack of cancer against Pam Padgett was an illegal attack against the Word of God.  This is how I viewed it.  Pam is a person of real faith, putting her trust in God.  Living a godly life in Christ Jesus, the Word.  I would say what David said against Goliath:)

I Samuel 17

34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

(David had a godly anger over this attack of the Philistines against the army of the Living God.)

37 David said moreover, The LORD (the Word) that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, HE will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

(The army of Israel was afraid of the Philistines but David was angry over what they had done: How dare you do this!  And David said:  Then said David to the Philistine, "Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel."  I Samuel 17:45-46)

What is the Word of God, the Bible?

Is it an history book telling about God?  Or are those scriptures the power of the living God?

I once told a lawyer:  The Bible says:  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of ME, saith the LORD (the Word)Isaiah 54:17

Even as I write this, I tremble with anger over devils and people who defy the Word of God, the living Word of God.

Either the Bible is an history book telling about God ... or the Bible is God, is the Word which is God with the power of God who created the heaven and the earth.

If the Bible is an history book telling about God, I want nothing more to do with the Bible. But if the Bible is God, having that power of God, I will seek it.  "This is a good time to find out." I said to the lawyer as I dimissed him and planned to go to court without any human legal counsel.

I was a new Christian in 1975 when real life happenings showed me the power of the Word of God.
