πŸ’₯ Jesus says: "Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." (Mt. 24)

Comments by Joan Boney:

In 1980, my best friend was a woman who had been raised Baptist and as a young woman changed to Catholic in order to marry a young Catholic man in Italy.

When they returned to USA, he divorced her.

Matthew 5:32  (Jesus says:)  But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

She then began to attend a non-denominational church.  She apparently knew the scriptures concerning divorce/remarriage for she kept it a secret that she had been divorced and presented herself as an unmarried woman to the church.

A man at the church had a wife and 3 children and his wife contacted cancer and died.

In time, this man wanted to remarry and began to consider the women at the church and selected 2 women to date. Donna was one of those women he dated, but he did not know she had been married prior to this.

He began dating her and she was the woman he selected to marry.  She then told him she was divorced but in spite of knowing the scripture, they married.

After I met them, at one point I asked Hal, "If you had known Donna had been married and was divorced, would you have dated her?"

He very thoughtfully answered, "No.  I don't believe I would have."

(Apparently he had been taught what Jesus said in the New Testament Bible in Matthew 5:32 where Jesus said, "Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.")

I've never heard this scripture taught at any church that I have attended.

But the Word of God stands as truth whether it is taught or not taught to a church group for we can all read this in the New Testament Bible.

Hal knew the truth but chose to go against the scripture as a Christian regardless, setting aside scripture for Donna. And Donna chose to set aside scripture for Hal.

God will sort through this and judge with righteous judgment.

2 Corinthians 5

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

After we are born again, it is such a serious thing to go against the Word of God.

Hebrews 10:26  For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30 For we know HIM that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto ME, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge HIS people.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The Word of God must be more important to us than anything or anyone.

I Corinthians 7:10-11  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

This scripture, the commandment of the Lord, should be taught at each church.  But I've never heard it taught at any church.

Nevertheless, the scripture stands and Christians are responsible for the instructions presented in the New Testament Bible.

The apostle Peter says:

2 Peter 2

20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (The Word of God), they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
