πŸ’₯ Jesus says: If you continue in MY WORD, then you are MY disciple indeed. (Jn. 8:31)

Continue: Go in a specified course of action and keep doing according to those instructions; endure; hold fast to the Word; do and keep on doing.

James 1

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit (judge) the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Hearing evening newscasts are like standing by a muddy road as big trucks roar past you.  Mud splatters on your garment.

Our flesh gets bored and wants excitement and we often wander off into trouble.

Most of us battle with this problem.  We want to know what's going on.  It is a type of excitement for us.  And much needless concern comes to us as a result.  I know there are many times when I watch that I end up thinking, "I wish I hadn't seen that. "

In the 1930's, William Shirer was a CBS newsman stationed in Berlin, Germany.

CBS agreed to allow Shirer to have 5 minutes of radio time to tell what was happening in Germany in the days of Adolph Hitler!  And he was told, "If you don't need the 5 minutes, give some of that time back to us."

Today, where I live, even local news has 2 hours per day of evening TV news!

They have to fill this time so they look for stories that will catch and hold the attention of viewers.  Often the presentations are more sensational and border on speculation which causes the person who watches to take on concerns when they do not even exist.

The apostle Peter tells us to live in peace, without spot and blameless as we wait for Jesus.

We might do that for a season and then drift away, back to the things of this world.

I Corinthians 10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

(I certainly admit to having the same problem.)

Sometimes I grow tired of all the world problems and walk away.  Certainly we can pray over the various problems that trouble us.  I find most of the time I don't pray over TV news stories.

It's like that person who wins the lottery.  They can do so much good.  "But most of the time they don't".

The truth is:  Most of the time I don't know "how" to pray.  I don't know the will of God for that person in the news story.

I don't know what God's will is concerning the current wars that we see around the world.  I don't know the will of God concerning USA.

Jesus said: "There will be wars and rumors of wars. Let not your heart be troubled."  (Mt. 24)

I know the will of God for Christians, that we live in the word of God and keep our selves in peace, without spot, and blameless.

2 Peter 3

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

The spirit is willing but our flesh is weak.

(So we exercise ourselves in Godliness as we eat and drink daily spiritual exhortations, applying such to our own lives.  Calling on God continually for HIS help against our own flesh.)
