Proverbs 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
Those who walk by the Holy Spirit in the wisdom of God seek to serve God and seek their provision from God ... things above, not things of this
world. By not seeking to find their lives on this earth, the wise are
spared much of the strife, worry, disappointments, futility, and vain
works of this world, and depart from the way that leads to destruction by following the Spirit of God instead of following the flesh.
Romans 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to
live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:
but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall
live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons
of God.

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth
nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 6: 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or,
What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after
all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth
that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil
thereof.
Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When
Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with
him in glory.
For those who have been called by God, our way of life should not
be according to the ways of this world. We are not of this world, but
have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, bought with a price, that we
should glorify God as we live on this earth, and for eternity.
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
