Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
While considering the wicked fleeing when no one is pursuing them, I thought of those who try to work things out in their own minds, trying
to anticipate, please, or "out smart" others, often dealing
deceitfully. Yet there are many fears and they quickly turn (flee) from a
direction they are going if they imagine it might be unpopular or bring
disfavor in some way. There is no strength in this way.
When we turn to God and trust Him to show us what to do in a situation,
and we purpose to deal with integrity and in a straightforward way as we
go in the way we're led, we
can stand in confidence and with courage. We're bold because we're trusting in God, not in ourselves. I'm reminded of the example
Jesus gave us of those who come to Him, hear His word, and do it being
like a house build on a rock ...
Luke 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and
doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man
which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a
rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that
house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a
foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did
beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was
great.
