If God be for us who can be against us? Romans 8

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

Is God for us?

If we believe in the Bible, the Word of God, Jesus Christ, God is for us.

If then God be for us, who can be against us, says Paul.  Romans 8

Isaiah 54:17    No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the LORD.

We build our faith in God as we review the promises of God for us in the Bible and as we see the various examples of God working on behalf of HIS people.

God brought the children of Israel through the wilderness, leading them into the land HE had promised them.  God caused them to triumph over all their enemies.

And the rulers of other countries were afraid when they saw how God caused HIS people to win out over the nations of men.

One king sought a prophet to curse the people of God.

Numbers 22:1-6  And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.  And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
Is God going to allow us to be cursed?  God will stop it.

Numbers 22:12    And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

Joseph was sold into bondage by his own brothers.  Yet we read that God made Joseph (who was a slave) a prosperous man filled with wisdom.

Genesis 39:1-4    And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man;
and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

The servant of the prophet Elisha was afraid when he saw the power of the king.  How can we stand against that?  Elisha prayed for God to open his servant's eyes that he might see.

II Kings 6:17   ... And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Paul says:  We are more than conquerors through HIM who loved us.  Romans 8

When a rich or famous man or woman dies, I always wonder, "And where is he today?"

All that really matters is our daily service to God in the role to which HE has assigned us.

The examples in the OT are for us to give us faith in God and to allow us to see the invisible power of God used on behalf of HIS people.

I Corinthians 10:13   There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

In NT we are given "another spirit", the Holy Spirit of Christ, that we can see things above and know our kingdom is not of this earth.

Colossians 3:1-10    If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:  For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him:

But still we, as children of God, win out ... overcoming our own flesh and devils as we choose the way shown us by the Holy Spirit in the issues of this present life.

James 3:17   But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Build yourselves up in the faith in God by thinking of these many examples given in Bible to strengthen us and to show us the truth about God.

Our God created the heavens and the earth.

Is there anything too hard for HIM?
