Discouraged?

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

This week, a woman in our little church group told a story which greatly discouraged me.

She has been with us in our group for many years.  She went completely against the basic teaching I've been doing since 1980 ...

God's yoke is easy and HIS burden is light.   (Mt. 11)

It is so very difficult to see this happen.  I know some of you go through this all the time with your children.  You tell them over and over and they go out and do the opposite to that which you have told them.  You become so upset that you want to give up!

"Why tell them anything?"

This is how I felt.

I wanted to quit writing exhortations to the church.

Then God reminded me of Moses when he was so upset at the people that he threw the tablets of stone on the ground and broke the stone on which God had written the ten commandments.

Exodus 32:15-19     And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

Moses likely thought, "Look at what they are doing!  They don't deserve to hear from God."

Really, none of us deserve the word of God.

It is the goodness of God that HE gave us HIS WORD, Jesus.

It is the same goodness of God that HE gave ministers to help the church:  apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teachers.  (Ephesians 4:11)

And in spite of disobedience, God keeps those ordained ministers speaking HIS Word, faithful to God.

Paul explains:

I Corinthians 15:57-58    But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Galatians 6:9-10    And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

"You can't throw away the ministry of Christ over the disobedience of one person!"

Parents are given children as "the ministry of Christ," just as I am given ministry offices of apostle/prophet to care for HIS church, as the ministry of Christ.

Hold fast, doing the work, as faithfulness to Christ, the Word.
