Tightening control over mouth

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

Ephesians 5:1-4     Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;  Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Why would "jesting" be evil?

One definition of "jesting' is the telling of witticisms.   The evil behind this would be that desire to be wise in your own eyes.  Also the evil in wanting other humans to admire you for your cleverness.

Early as God was training me to do HIS work, HE took me to the following scripture:

The apostle Paul said:

I Corinthians 2:4-5    And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Clever stories often have a way of making fun of other people and thereby exalting yourself.

Such puffs us up in our own flesh.

Instead we want to speak to edify God.
