1 Peter 1:13-16 ... Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober,
and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the
revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning
yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he
which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of
conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Exhortation: Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
To gird up the loins of our mind would indicate to take specific action in a determined way. Instead of sitting and day dreaming, we would set about to direct our minds, being in control of what we choose to think.
And Peter says:
and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the
revelation of Jesus Christ; ... in the problem we wait and hope for the plan of God which will give us the "grace" to endure the problem ...
The world and the flesh presents one view of life. God, through the Bible and the Holy Spirit, presents and opposite view of life. We choose the view we want to think on. When we choose the Bible, we surround our mind with the things of God. We build faith in God by thinking on things of God and by thinking on that which God has done.
For example: When we choose to think about God creating the heavens and the earth, we think of how God created the heavens and the earth. God spoke and it happened. God did not create the heavens and the earth from things that already exist. When a human sets about to create an object, he has to get the materials together first to use in building the object. But God just spoke and the object appeared. In Hebrews we read it is by faith that we understand this. Heb. 11:3 ... Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Here we have example of God Who creates something from nothing.
God spoke and we were changed into another image, an image like HIM. Before God spoke we lived in the image of other humans. But when God revealed Himself to us we were changed immediately into the image of God. We no longer lived as we once did. We were a new creation. Old things passed away and all things became new to us after God changed us. We no longer pursue the fleshly things we once pursued. We might try to pursue them but we find them dead for we are now dead to this world and alive to Christ by HIS Spirit that now dwells in us. We are now a new creation, born in the image of God. Where we were once unholy, thinking of unholy things, we are now holy, desiring spiritual things.
We are now children of God.
