Overcoming vs. being overcome

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

I Cor. 10 ... Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.  5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

This world is like the wilderness of the Old Testament.

For the world to overcome us is a very terrible thing.  And we see by the above scripture that God is not well pleased with those who are overthrown in the wilderness.

Several times in Revelation, Jesus says HE is returning for a church that overcomes ...

When we go out into the world to get our groceries or do other things we run into all types of worldly spirits which would defeat us if possible.  But we have the Spirit of God.  We have a far greater power in us than is in the people of the world.

Paul lists several reasons they were overcome in the wilderness as examples for us today.

I Cor. 10

- they lusted after evil things
- some were idolaters (worshiping something other than God)
- some were fornicators
- some tempted Christ
- some were murmurers / complainers

I Cor. 10:11 ... Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Think of how they complained ... they didn't like all that manna ... they wanted flesh to eat ... they were sorry they ever followed Moses out of Egypt ... they forgot the hardship put on them by the Egyptians ... now they say why did you take us out of Egypt to die in this wilderness, blaming Moses and Aaron, failing to see their redemption from God ... all sorts of complaining ...

Negative ... so much negative ... evil reports concerning the good that God intended ... turning back from that good through negative thoughts or fears.

All these things are examples of being overthrown in the wilderness and failing to please God.

We must not let this happen to us.  We also read in I Cor. 10 that God has made a way of escape for each of us ...

I Cor. 10:13 ... There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.  14Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

We must stop all negative talk and all negative thinking and build ourselves up in God who overcomes all things and overcomes all people.  When you give a negative report you deny so much scripture and you deny the power of God in your own life.  Negative is opposite from operating in faith.

Heb. 11:1-2 ...Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  2For by it the elders obtained a good report.

One purpose of the blog and all the writings we do is to fill us with the way of God daily so we overcome in this world.
