Jesus always pleased the Father

Pam Padgett ... teacher

As Jesus walked on this earth, other people and the devil tried to get Jesus to do as they said, saying if He is the Son of God He should do these things.  But Jesus did not do according to the will of man or the devil, but according to the will of the Father.

The devil tried to get Jesus to turn stones into bread, but Jesus didn't do as the devil directed.  Instead, Jesus answered according to God's view ... Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God ...

Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Then the devil tried to get Jesus to cast himself from a pinnacle of the temple.  The devil even quoted scripture, but not according to the wisdom of God.  Jesus did not do as the devil said.  Jesus brought forth the word of God which shined light on what the devil told Him to do ... Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God ....

Matthew 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Another example ... When Jesus was crucified those that passed by, chief priests, scribes, and elders tried to get Jesus to prove He is the Son of God by coming down from the cross.  But Jesus, being the Son of God and doing according to the will and purpose of the Father, did not come down from the cross ...

Matthew 27:39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. 43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

Jesus didn't try to prove Himself as the devil and other people told Him to do. Instead, Jesus did always those things that pleased the Father ...

John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

As Jesus did what pleased the Father, the works He did proved that He is the Son of God.  The Father also testified Jesus is His Son, including  ...

when Jesus was baptized ...

Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

when Jesus took Peter, James, and John to a mountain, was transfigured before them, and spoke with Moses and Elias ...

Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

and in events God brought forth after Jesus was crucified ...

Matthew 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
