We do have control over our mind.  We can make ourselves think of God and HIS Word.

The apostle Paul tells us:

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

John 17:17  Jesus says, in prayer to God:  Sanctify them through THY truth: THY word is truth.

John 18:37   Every one that is of the truth heareth MY voice.

Ephesians 4:21   If so be that ye have heard HIM, and have been taught by HIM, as the truth is in Jesus: (in The Word)

* Think on those things God did for HIS people in the Bible (especially in the Old Testament) and also think on those things God has done for you personally in this life, strengthening your faith in God and going forth in peace and joy from God.
