God raises up Gideon to deliver the nation of Israel from the bondage of the Midianites.
Judges 6:25-34 And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him,
Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:
And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.
Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.
And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.
And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.
Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.
And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.
Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.

After the death of the apostle Paul, men of the church arose to speak perverse things to the church group.
Paul foretold of this happening in the following scripture.
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Since the time of Paul, two-thousand-years ago, men have set up corrupt churches, eliminating doctrines of God and replacing these doctrines with teaching of their own imaginations.
Thus we have Catholic church set up like some of the Old Testament churches in symbols with their "priests" dressed in garbs to make people think they are religious. And they added many graven images and taught their followers to pray to humans who had been declared by them to be "saints".
Matthew 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
Luke 20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

All manner of Protestant churches arose after Paul's time. And perverse things were taught by them.
And many of these churches taught: All good is from God and all bad is from the devil ... and God wants you to be happy and forgives you and loves you, so do what you want.
I Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Gentiles who were not born of the Spirit of God came into the Christian church groups after the death of Paul, and many perverse doctrines became the doctrines of these groups.
But the time these evil men have reigned in the churches draws to an end and the coming of Jesus is near.
All doctrines will be judged and all the people will be judged by that which they speak and by that which they do, whether good or bad.
II Corinthians 5:10-11 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

As Paul says:
II Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (of the Lord) shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
(People in churches will "fall away" from doctrines of Bible ... and when scriptures are removed, even in part, antichrist comes into the church itself.)
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Antichrist is not just one man but is a spirit in many men, like devil is spirit in many men.
The apostle John explains this to us in the following scripture:
I John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
These "antichrists" were sitting there in the church group just waiting until the departure of the apostle Paul so they could rise up with their perversions and set up their own church groups.
This problem in the Christian churches began even before Paul died.
That is what we are seeing today in the various denominations of Protestants and Catholics.
In this time today, their perverseness set up by man in the churches will be discovered and judged and destroyed.
