Prayer in all things

Barbara Preston... Member of body of Christ

Remembering to pray is so important.

Reading recent exhortation on blog about remembering to pray over things reminded me of the following...

We are planning on replacing our back deck and have just finished picking out materials for doing this.

An important decision for me was to make the right decision on what color planking to use for floor of deck because when I look out backdoor that is the main color I will see every day.

(Husband will see this also but doesn’t care about color as much as I do.)

Earlier this week we brought 4 different color samples home to look at. These were the colors that were most appealing to me from samples available at building supply store.

I made a decision on which one I liked best but, not long after doing this, I started having thoughts about how when I don’t pray things don’t turn out as well as they do when I do pray.

And then realized that I couldn’t remember if I had prayed before approaching this color decision or not.

So I stopped and asked for God’s help with this and, right after praying, I heard the following...

"What is one of your favorite colors?"

I immediately thought of a particular color and realized this was the color of planking I had chosen!

This gave me the confirmation from God that I needed and has not only given me peace but joy also, knowing that God helped me and that this will work best BECAUSE He has helped me.

And I am thankful to have been reminded to pray before it was ordered.

It is so astounding that we can do this...turn to the Creator of all things, the God of all, and He hears us and answers us no matter how small the concern may seem. The details of our everyday lives are important to God.
