* Overcoming in the wilderness of this world

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

In 1 Corinthians 10  we read the following scripture.

5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Our wilderness is this world that we are currently living in.

For example we have the medical wilderness.

When something happens and you try to work through hospitals or home care people or various clinics, it's a wilderness.   We have the wilderness of various problems.

***

If you have any type of difficult thing in your life you have to work through it in a spiritual way through prayer and by putting your faith in God, believing God will  help you and will show you what to do.  For problems are a torment and if you try to ignore the problem and live in a problem, you will not be joyful and happy.

Christians are to live as overcomers in this wilderness.  We are to deal with these things in a way that we are living joyful lives.

If anything is keeping us downtrodden, dismayed, even slightly unhappy, we are not going to be living in joy.

We should be living in joy.

To overcome is to live in joy.  Not to fake it.  You don't fake living in joy.  You take action that causes the problem to evaporate.

***

You overcome through telling God "this is a problem" to you and through pursuing ideas that come to your mind which enable you to take care of the problem.

***

I believe with all my heart it is God leading me in how to deal with these problems when I pray, but it is up to me to deal with them.

If I postpone taking action against a problem, I will be living under the cloud of the problem and I will not be overcoming in this wilderness of this world until I overcome these problems.

The first week of April, 2019, a concern arose that we might have to change realtors on the house that is in Lubbock, Texas.

It seemed obvious to us that the realtor was not really interested in the property.

We listed it with him in December, 2018, and contractor had made it ready to enter the market but it still was not listed in early April.

The estate sale was in February, 2019, and woman conducting the sale of items at the house said she was surprised the realtor had not brought hand out materials to the sale showing the property was also to be sold.

The realtor did not return phone calls and text messages to Pam.

The contractor reported the realtor said my house was going to be hard to sell.

To me all these facts indicated this realtor did not like the property.

I began asking God if we should change realtors and if so when?

***

Then on April 3, 2019, it all happened at once.

That morning, we decided to make the change.

In 2002, a Lubbock realtor sold the small house I had purchased during the construction period.

But I couldn't remember her name, though I liked her at the time and considered her to be a good realtor.

I did remember she was an agent with Remax.  I pulled up the photos of Lubbock agents on Internet and began looking.  I was certain I would recognize her if she was pictured there.

Then a name came into my mind:  "Bishop"

As I continued to look at realtor photos there she was … Then I saw her name, "Carol Bishop".

I felt it was God bringing her name to my mind.

This made me feel she was the agent to list the property.

I called her immediately.  She appeared to be very interested.  She had seen the initial construction in 2002-2003 when I was building the house.

We switched realtors immediately!

There is no financial pressure to sell the house, but neither do we want to keep paying utilities indefinitely.

I believe the house will sell.  I believe it was God who moved me to Colorado.  I don't believe God would have me move then leave the property in Texas without it selling.  I've even prayed that the house sell quickly.

I'm sure Carol will talk with Pam and return her phone calls.

***

If anything troubles me, I pray.

God always helps me.

Philippians 4:6-7   Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Hymn:  He leadeth me!

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

1. He leadeth me! O blessed thought,
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught;
Whate’er I do, where’er I be,
Still ’tis Christ’s WORD that leadeth me.

Chorus:

He leadeth me! He leadeth me!
By His own WORD He leadeth me;

His faithful follower I would be,
For by His WORD He leadeth me.

2.  Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis His WORD that leadeth me.

3.  Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine (by reaching out and grabbing HIS Word and doing it),

Nor ever murmur or repine; *

Content, whatever lot I see,
Since it is Thou that leadest me.

4.  And when my task on earth is done,
When, by Thy grace, the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,

Since Thou in triumph leadest me.

***

Consider these definitions for the words "murmur" and "repine" in verse 3.

Nor ever murmur or repine;

murmur:  complain about the instruction of the Word of God

repine:  to look back with intense longing for what one once had...
             to be fretfully discontented...
to mope, to languish, to feel upset about, to be despondent over ... to brood, lament, grieve, mourn, sorrow

Scriptures pertaining to this hymn:

Romans 8:11    But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

God, by HIS Spirit, brings thoughts to our minds to comfort us, to show us what to do, to stabilize us in times of trial.  Sometimes God will give us a dream to help us.  And God uses angels from time to time to deliver messages to us.

John 14:26    But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13   Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

***

I Corinthians 2:1-5   And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

***

John 5:30   Jesus said:   I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear (from God), I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

***

I Corinthians 2:10-12    But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

***

Romans 8:14   For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
