Hymn:  Power in the Blood

(Click forward arrow > to play music:)

1.  Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood,
power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?

There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Chorus:

There is power, power,
wonder-working power,
In the blood ... of the Lamb;

There is power, power,

wonder-working power,
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

2.  Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood,
power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide,

There’s wonderful power in the blood.

3.  Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood,
power in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow,

There’s wonderful power in the blood.

4.  Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood,
power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?

There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Scripture pertaining to above hymn:

Romans 5:5-9     the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth HIS love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

(We didn't shed our blood but Jesus shed His blood ... without shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.  Hebrews 9:22 ... we cannot hope to pay for our sins and our wrong actions by our good works ... only by shed blood are we cleansed)

***

God has power to completely change us instantly ... When God reveals Himself and Jesus and Holy Spirit to us we are born again ... a new creation ... old things are gone, passed away, as HIS Spirit enters into us to make us a "new man".

II Corinthians 5:17-18    Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ
(The Word which God speaks to us by HIS Spirit).

***

The new covenant replaces the old covenant:

Hebrews 10:9-14   Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. HE taketh away the first (covenant), that HE may establish the second.

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

And every priest (old testament) standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

But this man (Jesus), after HE had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till HIS enemies be made HIS footstool.

For by one offering HE (Jesus) hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

***

I John 1:7 ... But if we walk in the light, as HE is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We enter in by refusing to think on our past sins which have been paid for by Jesus' blood.  And when we are deficient and disappointed in that which we did or failed to do, we must understand that no human is worthy.  The blood of Jesus is worthy.  Through Jesus we are worthy and we come to God thought HIS worthiness and HIS blood which purchased us.

When we think on that we rejoice ... sorrow turns to joy when we focus on the work done by Jesus.

***

Matthew 11:28-30   Jesus says ... Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take MY yoke upon you, and learn of ME; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For MY yoke is easy, and MY burden is light.

Yoking yourself to Jesus for basic salvation is critical.  But it is also critical to yoke yourself to Jesus when you make plans after you are born again.

For the plans we make could be plans of our own flesh or of other human beings or plans of the devil.  If such, dread will likely be the resulting fruit.

For the yokes of man, and the yokes of the devil, and the yokes of our own flesh are hard, whereas the yoke of God is easy.

Victorious Christians succeed in plans of God because they yoke themselves to plans of God through prayer and through being established by God in the plan.
