People blessed by God

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

NT apostle, those persons anointed by God to deal with scripture and church doctrine based on scripture.

NT prophet, those persons anointed by God to bring correction to church, to correct both ministers and individuals.

My contractor, told me the following:  He said, "I've noticed the really spiritual people are so often the women who have very little material things."

While that is often true, we must also balance this by knowing some who have little are very covetous, wanting what others have.

Nevertheless we who are spiritual often follow God, giving up our own reputations and not seeking riches of this present world.

But as we diligently seek the will of God and what is right in the sight of God, all these "things" are added unto us as Jesus said they would be.

So in the end, we find "things" around us which we enjoy and we are amazed because we know we didn't set out to get these things for ourselves.

Matthew 6:33  seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

After I was born again, my greatest delight was Bible.  I read the scriptures looking for something I could do and my life was recreated over and over as I did various instructions which I read to do in the  Bible.

When Tom spoke of humble women who he thought to be spiritual, I was reminded of the following scripture which says a similar thing.

I Corinthians 1:25-31    Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

That no flesh should glory in His presence.

But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

The flesh likes to glory in flesh, especially in famous, attractive, powerful people.

So to take pride in a famous athlete because that athlete says he is a Christian is something flesh enjoys and often understands.

But God's wisdom was to take us who are less than nothing and put HIS Spirit into us to confound the wise...

The wise worldly person despises that weak, lowly person and says to himself:  "How can that person be a Christian?  Who cares?"  (of course we who are spiritual care greatly when we see another person who is truly of God)

***

The real glory is when we glory in that Word that is given us by God!

Man glories in the physical beauty of a woman.  Humans glory in Hollywood movie stars.

But we glory in the Word of God given to us.

And we do not care if that Word is spoken by the lowliest creature for we recognize it as a Word from God because of the Word and not because it is delivered by a famous man or a high-up individuals.  The power for us is in the Word itself.

***

Once a man said to me, "I've noticed how so many Christians are ugly in appearance."

(They, like Jesus, have no form nor comeliness that we would desire them.)

Isaiah 53:2-3    HE hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see HIM, there is no beauty that we should desire HIM.

HE is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from HIM; HE was despised, and we esteemed HIM not.

***

And truly, the Word itself, is despised and rejected by humans when it is their desire to sin and the Word shows them not to do that sin.  They often run and hide from the Word in order to pursue their sin.

The people of this world want churches to approve their sin and they want freedom to sin.

We, who are of God, delight in Bible knowing scriptures give us freedom from sin when we obey the scripture.

Matthew 7:13-14   Jesus says:    Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

A woman once told me she had sex with various men and she also called herself a Christian (and even said she was a prophet) while doing these evil things.

As she enticed men to her bed, she even told the men that if they had sex it would be a sin.

One man backed away from her and would not have sex with her.

She asked him why he did that, and he replied, "Because you said it would be sin."

Of course I was horrified at her story and her fornication and withdrew company from this woman immediately.

The apostle Paul tells us what to do in such cases as this woman.

I Corinthians 5:11    But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Luke 10:21    In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

I Corinthians 2:14    But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Matthew 19:21-23    Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

The "riches" could be money ... or it could be reputation among men of this world due to achievements or physical appearance.  Often, in order to do the will of God, we have to give up our popularity among men and speak things which offend them, thus losing all to follow the Word given to us.

Paul said:  Philippians 3:7-9    But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
