Ephesians 1:2 & 8 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. ..... Wherein HE hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
When I read Ephesians 1 recently, the second part of verse 8 stood out to me, especially the word "prudence".
The meaning of the word "prudence" is:
- the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason
- good judgment
- common sense
- caution as to danger or risk; discretion
We see having common sense is one of the gifts from God.
II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
***
I have met individuals who had little or no common sense even though such called themselves Christians.
Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
The following scripture is very interesting on this subject.
Job 39:13-17 Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust, And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;
Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath HE imparted to her understanding.
