Psalm 58 ... Prayers to God & Promises from God to the Church

1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation?
do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness;
ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

3 The wicked are estranged from the womb:
they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent:
they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers,
charming never so wisely.

6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth:
break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.

7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually:
when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away:
like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

9 Before your pots can feel the thorns,
he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance:
he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous:
verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Comments by Joan Boney

When we are born again, we are given the Spirit of God.  In the OT only a few had the Spirit of God.
When we are given the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Jesus, we have another Spirit.

Lk. 9 ...  51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face:and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

The Psalms are wonderful, filled with wonderful prayers and with promises from God.  We read each Psalm and focus on that which fits the New Covenant.  God will bring a justice, one way or another.

Romans 12 ... 14 Bless them which persecute you:bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath:for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink:for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Galatians 6 ... 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked:for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing:for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
