When we belong to God, if we need it, God will see that we get it one way or another. It may come to us without us doing anything other than following God daily. But if it is "a good thing" it will be provided. Some things we think to be good might not fit into God's will for us. But according to God's will, our needs are provided.
My most recent need, which looked as if it would not be possible to fill that need, concerns my sound system. It seemed impossible to find anyone in Lubbock to help me. Some companies said they could do the work, but they wouldn't schedule a time for the work and they never called back. Some companies would send a worker who couldn't do the work after he got to my house. I limped along for several months with this problem. Finally by internet I located a programmer in Lubbock who could program my remote and he came over and fixed the problem and even re cabled the system to fix other problems. Now I have a competent sound equipment person in Lubbock. I had prayed much over this problem and God led me in a way to find this person who can keep everything going.
I have a good mechanic who keeps my 20 year old car running.
I have a cleaning woman who comes once a week and is excellent.
I have a company who keeps my yard in good condition.
The contractor who built this house 10 years ago, comes over when I have a problem and he maintains the structural part of the property.
I was just sitting here today rejoicing over having all the competent people to help. I know they are here by the grace of God.
All my need is met. I have to take eye drops twice daily. On of the prescriptions was relatively expensive. I was unhappy with the cost. But this week I discovered a pharmacy where the eye drops are very inexpensive. At one pharmacy the drops are $69 a bottle. This pharmacy is $13 a bottle. Again, I see God has having led me in finding them.
Every need has been provided by prayer and by following the steps I believe to have been from God in locating the person or company. But it all started with prayer.
Mt. 6:32 ... for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
These secular things can be a grief to us. They can consume our minds. But God knows we need help. In each situation there is an answer. God knows the answer. We seek the answer through God in prayer. And also we take the step we believe to have been brought to our minds through God.
When my TV broke in January of this year, I prayed about what TV to buy. I bought the unit I thought would work best for me visually. The TV company installed the TV but as a result of the installation problems surfaced in the sound system. They said they would come fix it. But they didn't. Over and over they said they would fix the installation problem. But they did not come back to fix it. I was very frustrated with this company. God showed me to get another company to fix the problem. But I had tried several companies in Lubbock and couldn't locate a competent installer for sound equipment. Then the thought came to check the internet and see if Universal Remote had a dealer in Lubbock. I did check the internet and there was a dealer listed in Lubbock. This person likely works from his home rather than from a store front shop and he wasn't visible to most of us. I called the phone number listed on internet and requested service. They did not call me back. (This really frustrated me for I thought it was God leading me to call this company.) The TV people kept saying when I called them that they were "ready" to come fix the problem but they would not schedule a time. About 10 days passed and I recalled the internet dealer. This time he did call me back. He said he received my first call but lost the number. This time he made an appointment and came and fixed everything. The work was excellent.
This lightened my mental load greatly. My need was met, but I know it was met through prayer and through doing what I thought I heard to do.
This subject was really a trial for me. I thought I was hearing from God concerning this company. But it didn't work. Then when I recalled this company I learned they lost my phone number. After recalling the business, everything worked and I found a competent installer. It was God leading me concerning this company but I had to persist to get the work done.

When they stoned Stephen

Stephen spoke the word of God and at one point they became furious and took hold of Stephen and Stephen knew they were going to kill him. But Stephen looked into heaven and saw something that lifted him above what they could do to him through death ...
Acts 7 ... Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 52Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: 53Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 55But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. 59And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
When we can connect with God, looking steadfast to God for help, it makes the situation durable for us and we find grace in time of need.

I have never received a word from God which I dreaded doing that I can recall. At first word, I might not know how to do what I heard. But God by His Spirit always shows me how to take the various steps involved. But I never feel dread over the word I heard. I am usually very excited when God gives me a word.

The abomination of desolation

Mt. 24 ... Jesus said ... 15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
What is the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet?
This is what I asked God.
I turned to book of Daniel and started reading at chapter 8 ... At the end of chapter 12 is where we find the reference to "the abomination that maketh desolate".
Daniel 12 ... 9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. 11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
If you look at verse 9 you will see why it is we do not know what this abomination is ... "the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end ..."

I was born again in August, 1975. Almost immediately I had many very severe problems happen to me. My best friend said, "Joanie ... this is not supposed to happen now that you are a Christian." Looking back on the afflictions I can see now how God used these things to teach me about faith and to teach me about HIMSELF and to teach me about THE WORD. I had to put my faith in God and depend on HIM to survive.
And out of each problem, I was delivered by God, HIS way.
Jesus said: Jn. 16:33 ... These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I (the Word) have overcome the world.
And we also overcome problems by that Word given us by the Holy Spirit during the problem or by the Word we read in the Bible during the problem.
And we recall that the Spirit in us is greater than the spirit that is in the world and we will overcome by the Spirit God has given us. (I Jn. 4)
Faith and patience are often required in the midst of the problem.

Who are my relatives?

Mt. 12 ... While he (Jesus) yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
A few days ago, I was considering Abraham. Is Abraham my relative? Of course Abraham is my relative. How about Joshua, and David, and Paul? All who do the will of God are my relatives.
Today I was reminded of what Jesus said about "Who is my mother? and who are my brothers?"
Paul certainly considered Timothy to be his son.
I certainly consider the church people I teach as my children.
While the world focuses on blood relatives, the people of God both in Bible and those living now are as much my father, mother, brother, sister. The family of God are my family. The children of the promise are my family. The children of the flesh may be called "cousins" but I find I can't even talk freely to them.
My cousin became angry with me and said, "It is obvious that you care nothing at all about your family." I simply told her I was sorry she misunderstands. She is a very fearful person and I was trying to get her to turn to God as her focus. She identifies herself as a Christian. Strangely what made her so angry is she wanted me to come visit her. She had gotten very sentimental and sees her death approaching. She is approximately 90 years old. I told her I would rent a car and come there if she wanted to talk about spiritual things but it would not be of profit to talk about fleshly things. She exploded over this. Strange. But I've always found God knows exactly how to push their buttons and things that make them so angry at me often surprise me.
My relatives are those person to whom I can freely talk for they are of God and hear from God. And I am related to Abraham, Daniel, David, Joshua, and Paul and all others in the Bible who knew God and followed HIM.
Romans 9 ... Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
... And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
Recently the following caught my attention:
Gen. 17 ... And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Abraham is not the father of a single nation but of "many" nations. Abraham is not just the father of the nation of Israel, but of "many nations".
We who are the chosen of God are those "many nations".
v. 15 ... And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

When God sends HIS word it never fails to accomplish that which God desires. And HIS word will prosper in the purpose to which God sent that word.
And that word will not return void. It will accomplish that which God intends to be accomplished.
I find I just speak that word. I do not focus on the results for I know the word will accomplish that which is intended by God.

My cousin is Church of Christ member. Acts 2:38 is one of the favorite scriptures of the Church of Christ group but this is the way they quote it: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
They leave out the part about receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. They likely don't understand what the Holy Spirit does and what a "great gift" it is to have.
By the Holy Spirit we know the will of God. I Cor. 2
The Holy Spirit teaches us all things. Jn. 14:26
The Holy Spirit reminds us of everything Jesus has said. Jn. 16:13
The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. Jn. 16:13
The Holy Spirit shows us things to come. Jn. 16:13
The Holy Spirit is a comforter in the midst of trouble. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth showing us truth in the issues of this life. The Holy Spirit even shows us the motives of men from time to time so we will not be deceived and so we can live in peace and deal wisely in worldly things.
I suspect my cousin's church group thought Holy Spirit meant speaking in tongues and it might. But it is much, much more. And without the Spirit of God you cannot belong to God. Roman 8

Sinners shall not stand in the congregation of the righteous

From time to time a person will come to me saying he (or she) is Christian while committing grievous sins.
There is a man who mishandles scripture, adding foolishly to the Bible, leading astray those who will hear him. He came to me wanting to flaunt his doctrines in front of me. I corrected him many times by scripture. But he just continued to speak unwisely concerning scripture without a fear of God. I would have no more to do with this man. He almost begged me to hear his various teachings and correct him. I refused. for to do this would destroy the ministry which I have been given which is to exhort the church in ways of God. I could not afford to become entangled in the careless doctrines of this man.
A woman came to me complaining about a pastor who had made sexual advances toward her. She identified herself to me as a Christian. But she herself was committing fornication. She came a second time and repented of some sins but never mentioned her fornication. I corrected her.
Jesus did not "condemn" the woman taken in adultery. (Jn. 8) ... But Jesus said to her, "Go, and sin no more."Jesus is saying, "Your sin has been forgiven but you must not go out and take up that sin again." Stop doing that sin. In this case (Jn. 8) the woman's sin was adultery. In order to be justified after being forgiven she would have to turn away from that sin she had been doing and do it no more.
Heb. 10 ... For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
I believe it is "a sin unto death" when a person who says he (or she) is Christian commits fornication (and such) and then goes back again to fornication after knowing fornication is a sin.
John spoke of "a sin unto death" ... and John told us we should not pray for those who are committing such.
I Jn. 5 ... If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
Heb. 10 tells us there is no more sacrifice for sin so when that person "willfully" commits a sin he "counts the blood of Christ wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace."
These people often want to be accepted by us, by the Church, while they continue in their sin which ends up being a sin against the Spirit of God.
I do not fellowship with such people. I do not keep company with such people. And I do not count them as one in the congregation and I would not attend any church if that church knowingly allow that person into the congregation. I would just leave that church group.
Paul told us to put them out of the church and that is what I do. I Cor. 5 ...I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Jimmy Swaggart is one who committed fornication. Paul said to put such a one as Swaggart out of the church. I Cor. 5 Do not keep company with such. But his church group took the direction of praying for "brother" Swaggart instead of withdrawing fellowship from him. Then he was caught with prostitute by a police officer and when questioned Swaggart reportedly replied, "It is flat none of your businesss." (Wickepedia )

We do not sit with those who call themselves Christians while they continue to live in sins. They are deceiving themselves and others when they do this. They are like a leaven. Paul says to put them out of the church and do not keep company with them.
And Jesus warned us that in the last days "many" would come saying HE, Jesus is Lord and because they said Jesus is Lord they would deceive many. Jesus told us not to be deceived by them. Mt. 24
Those who continue to commit sin are of the devil and not of God, though they want to think they are of God.
From time to time a person will come to me saying he (or she) is Christian while committing grievous sins.
There is a man who mishandles scripture, adding foolishly to the Bible, leading astray those who will hear him. He came to me wanting to flaunt his doctrines in front of me. I corrected him many times by scripture. But he just continued to speak unwisely concerning scripture without a fear of God. I would have no more to do with this man. He almost begged me to hear his various teachings and correct him. I refused. for to do this would destroy the ministry which I have been given which is to exhort the church in ways of God. I could not afford to become entangled in the careless doctrines of this man.
A woman came to me complaining about a pastor who had made sexual advances toward her. She identified herself to me as a Christian. But she herself was committing fornication. She came a second time and repented of some sins but never mentioned her fornication. I corrected her.
Jesus did not "condemn" the woman taken in adultery. (Jn. 8) ... But Jesus said to her, "Go, and sin no more."Jesus is saying, "Your sin has been forgiven but you must not go out and take up that sin again." Stop doing that sin. In this case (Jn. 8) the woman's sin was adultery. In order to be justified after being forgiven she would have to turn away from that sin she had been doing and do it no more.
Heb. 10 ... For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The Holy Spirit searches the heart of God to reveal God's heart on the matter to us. By this we can know the will of God in the issues of this present life.

Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? One time I was speaking of this scripture, Jn. 16:13, with a Baptist woman. When we read the part in the scripture where Jesus said the Holy Spirit would not speak of Himself "but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak", this woman asked: Who is HE hearing from?
I explained the Holy Spirit hears from God since the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God.
Paul is saying: As the spirit in you knows what you are thinking, the Spirit in God knows the thoughts of God in the matter at hand. And we, who are of God, have the Spirit of God so in the issues of life we can know the thoughts of God by HIS Spirit that dwells in us.

Shall not see when heat comes

Last night I had a dream where over and over people kept talking about "these hard times" ... each time they said this I was puzzled for I wasn't aware of any hard times.
I awoke thinking of Jeremiah 17 ... Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
During the housing problems of 2008 in United States, many were severely injured financially while some were not affected at all. I know in mass cases people suffered financial loss because they had gone out and borrowed more money than was reasonable in order to take out larger mortgages for bigger and better houses. Then when the housing collapse came they were in trouble.
But some of us who were led by God lived within our means and were content with what we had not trying to get bigger/better properties therefore we were even unaware of the financial problems for we didn't have a mortgage.
If we go in the wisdom of man, we curse ourselves.
If we keep our faith in God and go in His directions, we are like that tree planted by the rivers of water and often we do not see when heat comes ... we do not see when the trouble comes for we have not entered into the troubling path. So we are not "careful in the year of drought" ... and like a very good tree, we do not cease from yielding fruit.
HIS directions: I Tim. 6 ... But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
As long as you are trying to get more possessions and accumulate more money, you are going in the way of the world.
We, who are of God, are told to "flee these things" ... and to follow after "righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience meekness" ...
We have a very small church group ... approximately 9 households ... They faithfully give tithes/offerings. Even though there are so few in our group, I lack nothing. We always have plenty of money. We do not have to ask for money. We just try to go as God tells us and HE always provides our needs.
It is like Jesus said ... Mt. 6:33 ... But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We are not planning for greatness tomorrow with all types of plans for works. We just do that which God has told us to do today and everything else works out.

When I first became a Christian God showed me this verse and I believed it. It is not that the Holy Spirit just shows us spiritual things, I believe the Holy Spirit shows us all things, spiritual and secular.
I owned a business at that time. Before I would go out to buy merchandise, I would ask God to show me what to buy. I was always assured that the Holy Spirit showed me what to buy.
And the Holy Spirit reminds us of "all things" that Jesus has said to us.
Jesus speaks to HIS people by the Bible, by dreams, by specific words.
When the Holy Spirit reminds us, we know what to do or what to expect in the matter at hand. Our faith can build on this.

Word of God creates, sustains, and destroys

II Peter 3 ... Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
There are people who scoff at the idea that the end is coming. They point to the heaven and earth and in a puffed-up way, in their own wisdom, point out that since the world began it has continued the same way.
They are "willingly" ignorant of the time of Noah and the destruction of the earth by water.
They are also ignorant of the fact that the same word that brought the rain and destroyed the earth in time of Noah is now holding together what we see in the heavens. And the current heavens and earth are being kept in place by the Word and held in place until the appointed time of destruction which will come by fire.
So the Word creates, sustains that which is created, and destroys the created in the appointed time.
II Peter 3 ... But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Be diligent ... constant ... We can't start and stop ... We have to do this daily to be diligent.
In peace ... When we hear troubling reports and are pulled down and sad because of the report, if we redirect our mind as Paul said to do, doing the following we will be able to live in peace even in the midst of the iniquity of this current world ... Phil. 4:8 ... Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Without spot ... cleaning ourselves daily with Bible reading and through prayer.

Reading about how God helped Pam with her furnace repair reminded me of a problem God helped me with a while back.
We had a window in our living room in which the glass was shattered and needed to be replaced. A new window was on order and we were keeping the area taped over with plastic in the meantime. We had waited several weeks and finally the new window came.
But when my husband went to put it in there was a problem. Two little metal tabs that need to fit into slots at the side weren't fitting right. I prayed for help. My husband called the store where he ordered it and they told him to call the manufacturer, which didn't solve anything. He was going to try to drill additional holes, but I was concerned about doing that to this brand new window (what if this didn't work and we needed to return it). I think he tried some other things but nothing was helping. I continued to pray. Then he remembered that he had saved some of the hardware from the old window before he put it into the trash, among which were the two metal tabs. He tried using those and it worked!
I'm pretty sure if I had seen him save those old tabs that I would have been upset that he was holding on to these "useless" little things. But God knew how we would be needing them. And I think the trash was picked up just that morning, so we wouldn't have been able to retrieve them later. I am always so grateful and amazed at how God provided when I think of this.

Scripture: Shared by body of Christ
Acts 1:8 ... But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is
come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and
in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

A person can try to "witness" and be powerless unless the Holy Spirit is speaking through him.
An example: Many years ago, I was playing golf with two women. One woman was Church of Christ and the other woman Methodist. The Methodist woman began speaking about people judging other people. (I felt she was speaking about me.) Through me, by the Holy Spirit, came the following words: "If you are judging someone is judging aren't you judging?"
This woman was like a puffed up balloon that has been pricked with a pin. She actually gasped! The Holy Spirit took all the air out of her.
Another example: I was at a copy center when I little old man came up to me and said: "Little lady ... you didn't park behind that green and gold car did you?" I replied, "No sir." Then he said, "That's a Baylor car (Baylor Baptist University in Texas)" ... I said, "OK". Then he said, "You don't happen to be a Christian do you?" To this I was very excited for I had only been a Christian a few weeks when this happened. I said, "Well ... yes I am." A frown came on his face and he said, "Oh, heck ... I just joined the witnessing class at First Baptist Church and you are the first person I tried to witness to." He was disappointed because I am a Christian!
When we set about to "witness" we work in our own flesh.
When we are a witness due to what God has done in us, it will not be in vain.
There is a big difference between "trying" to witness and being a witness. One is of the flesh and profits nothing. The other is of the Spirit and does the work intended by God.

Enduring in the end times

I don't see how we can focus on the evil and endure the evil.
II Peter 3:13 ... Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Some church groups think they can make this present earth righteousness. Yet Paul says,
evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. II Tim. 3:13
Psa.
1 ... Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of
the scornful.
There are so many things on TV that I choose not to watch for I know they will trouble me needlessly.
Instead
of
doing what Paul told us to do and thinking on things that are a good
report (Phil. 4:8), many of these TV things cause me to become angry or filled with
strife against a person or event ...
And
even some of the shows that do not seem to trouble me often have a
crawler at bottom of the screen which tells "news" and these stories
often trouble me and tell me things I wish I had not heard.
So
I try to take care over TV watching just as I would take care
concerning the people I would talk with on phone for they so often
trouble me with their words.
It
is an exceedingly evil time we live in ... I believe God has shows us
how to endure and it has with doing the following:
Phil. 4:8 ... Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Certainly we can watch TV ... but if we are troubled by the words or stories we should reconsider what we choose to watch.

evil is really bad now and we know by Bible that the evil will get
worse and worse ... II Tim. 3 ... But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
I don't see how we can focus on the evil and endure the evil.
One thing we have done lately is add Bible Chapters at end of each day's writing on blog. Hopefully this will help us to do more Bible reading. I know it helps me and I think it could help you also. Filling more of our lives with God and less of our lives with the world should help in this evil time. And we know it is exceedingly evil and the world rampantly approves various sins and even applauds people in their sins. It just shows us how we draw closer to the return of Jesus for these sins today would not have been approved by the masses in 1940's. We grow closer to the day of our redemption, to the return of Jesus.

Church groups who think they will make this world better do not know the scriptures and they fight windmills.
It is the "new heavens and new earth" wherein dwelleth righteousness. We look for that and the redemption of our souls which comes with the return of Jesus for HIS people.
On this present earth, we "endure" to the end and I believe a big part of that endurance for us is to focus on what Paul said to do in Phil. 4:8 ... Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

When Hagar and Ishmael were sent away from Abraham, the account sounds like Ishmael was a baby ...

bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir
with my son, even with Isaac. 11And the thing was very grievous in
Abraham’s sight because of his son. 12And God said unto Abraham, Let it
not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy
bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her
voice;
for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. 13And also of the son of the
bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
14And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. 15And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. 16And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. I think this account is so interesting for I would have pictured Ishmael as a helpless little baby
...
But Ishmael was approximately 16 years old when this happened.
Ishmael was 13 years old when he was circumcised ... Gen. 17:25
Isaac was born a year later ... so Ishmael was 14 years old when Isaac was born.
After
Isaac was weaned, Abraham made a feast for Isaac and Sarah saw Ishmael
mocking and Sarah demanded that Ishmael and Hagar be cast out away from
Isaac. God told Abraham to do this as Sarah said ...
Don't think Sarah to have been mean ... The casting out of Ishmael is described as follows ...

Isaac was the child of promise. We of the elect are heirs of God. Romans 9
I can see a division between the people of God and the bonded people of the world.
Abraham
cared about Ishmael. I'm sure each of us can relate to this caring
about people of the world. But I know I can't be raised with them ... I
have one worldly "friend" (although I am a friend to her I know she
cannot be trusted as a friend to me for she is of the world) ... I do
not confide in her for she is of
the world and cannot understand what I say. I am "raised" with those who are led by the Holy Spirit but can't be raised with the worldly woman. But I care for
her. So I can relate to Abraham caring. But Sarah was right ... Her
son could not be raised with the son of this bondwoman ... Ishmael was
already mocking Isaac.
Yet
for Abraham's sake, God prospered Ishmael although it was in the world
... notice that Hagar got Ishmael a wife from Egypt ...
Later Abraham was very careful that Isaac have a wife of the people of God.
Gen.
24 ... And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had
blessed Abraham in all things. 2And Abraham said unto his eldest
servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee,
thy hand under my thigh: 3And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the
God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife
unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
4But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife
unto my son Isaac.
The people of God are separated by an understanding given to the people of God by God.

John 16:7 ... Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you
that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto
you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

The "Comforter", the Holy Spirit was given to the believers after Jesus paid the price for each person with HIS own blood.
We were sealed with the Holy Spirit as a type of earnest of our salvation. Eph. 1 ... Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Some church people equate the Holy Spirit to speaking in tongues ... but the Holy Spirit is far more than speaking in tongues.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus which shows us the way of God. I Cor. 2 ...Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
The way of the world is all around us. Our own flesh promotes the way of the world. But the Holy Spirit shows us the way of God. And now, we who belong to God, have the Holy Spirit in us to lead us and guide us and teach us.
Jn. 14:26 ... But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Jn. 16:13 ... Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Having the Holy Spirit gives us power to overcome in this present world. The Holy Spirit gives us power to be witnesses unto God and Jesus. Acts 1
Paul says unless we have the Spirit of God we are not of God. Romans 8
And Paul says if we are led by the Spirit of God we are a child of God. Romans 8
At one point, Saul disobeyed God and God striped the kingdom from Saul. And God removed the Holy Spirit from Saul. And God gave the kingdom to David and gave the Holy Spirit to David.
Unless you have the Holy Spirit you cannot see things of God. The Holy Spirit manifested itself at Pentecost by speaking in tongues, but the Holy Spirit is much, much more ... The Holy Spirit is the Comforter. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who shows us the way of God on this earth.
The Holy Spirit is wonderful and a great gift to the believer.

Jn. 16:13 ... Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Having the Holy Spirit gives us power to overcome in this present world. The Holy Spirit gives us power to be witnesses unto God and Jesus. Acts 1
Paul says unless we have the Spirit of God we are not of God. Romans 8
And Paul says if we are led by the Spirit of God we are a child of God. Romans 8
At one point, Saul disobeyed God and God striped the kingdom from Saul. And God removed the Holy Spirit from Saul. And God gave the kingdom to David and gave the Holy Spirit to David.
Unless you have the Holy Spirit you cannot see things of God. The Holy Spirit manifested itself at Pentecost by speaking in tongues, but the Holy Spirit is much, much more ... The Holy Spirit is the Comforter. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who shows us the way of God on this earth.
The Holy Spirit is wonderful and a great gift to the believer.
Be of good courage

And Joshua said the following to the men as a "charge" when he sent them to investigate the promised land ...
Numbers 13:20 ... And be ye of good courage ...
Be of "good courage" was the WORD over their duty ...
Courage ...
- ability to do something that frightens one
- strength in the face of pain or grief
Courage is what makes someone capable of facing extreme danger and difficulty without retreating. It implies not only bravery and dauntless spirit but the ability to endure in times of adversity.
Firmness or strength of mind ...
Determination to achieve a goal in spite of opposition or interference
Stubborn persistence and unwillingness to acknowledge defeat
High spirits, conviction, eagerness, unflappable daring
Brashness or even rudeness
Not deterred by danger or pain
Failure comes by unbelief in the commission from God ... unbelief in the word from God on the matter.
Thus we are told:
Joshua 1:8 ... This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Meditating on the Word from God gives the strength to do according to the Word of God.
How can we allow the world to overcome us who are of God? What a terrible thing! We who are of God have the Word of God behind us. We overcome through the Word of God. To pull back is to deny the Word of God and to deny God. How can this be? What a terrible shame! This must not happen. So meditate in what God has said about the matter and draw strength and courage from what God has said and go forward in courage.

Scripture: Shared by body of Christ
Matthew 11:28-30 ... Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of

Sometimes we labor in our own mind trying to figure out what we should do. Sometimes the way becomes so difficult when we are trying to figure it out. We go to internet and it becomes even more complex for there are so many choices. But when we simply turn to God in prayer about the issue and put our trust in Him, it becomes simple and peaceful. Often we trouble ourselves needlessly.
Here is a wonderful example: A man in our church group was considering building another storage shed to store his "stuff". As he thought about this the Holy Spirit said to him, "Why don't you just get rid of the stuff?"

Signs showing coming of Jesus

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

When we see these signs, it signals the near by coming of Jesus ... we will be at the door when we see these signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars ... These will be to us like the leaves on the trees after a winter. When we see those leaves begin to come we know that spring is very near. Jesus says: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Lk. 21

James 4:8 ... Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse
your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

We draw near God through prayer and through Bible reading and through thinking (and doing) things told us in the Bible.
We correct ourselves and our way by the Word of God. We wash ourselves by the Word.
We know the world speaks all manner of wickedness. We hear it on TV. It is in newspapers. It is spoken on the street as we pass by.
Drawing near to God is a deliberate act ... it is a deliberate choice on our part.
At the end of each daily blog, we have been adding a list of Bible chapters and recommend that we read these. This just helps us to spend more time with God and in HIS way. This is a good investment.
As the world around us becomes more and more wicked and evil, we need to turn from the wickedness and fill ourselves with the wonderful acts of godly people in the Bible, thinking upon those things. By this we endure. As we witness the victories in the Bible, God is predominate in our minds. It is very helpful to us. These humans can seem so big and powerful. But they are as nothing in the sight of God. Why do we make them to be so much? Fill yourself instead with God's examples and the humans will diminish.

Difference between Abel & Cain's offerings

Heb. 11:4 ... By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Why did God accept Abel's offering and reject Cain's offering?
Abel's offering was offered by faith.
There is a big difference between offering something because you feel you have to do this and giving because you have such gratitude to God in your heart.
And we give ourselves to God by faith.
It is the heart behind the gift that is important.

Here is the essence of faith ... God speaks ... the person believes ... and the person also knows God is able to do that which HE promises and HE is faithful to do that which HE promises.
Sarah had no child and yet God promised Abraham that he would have descendants as the sand of the sea in number.
Then the angel spoke that Sara would have a child. Sara was 90 at that time. She laughed. But she knew God was faithful to do what HE said ...
Then in Hebrews 11, we read that Sara judged God faithful ...
Heb. 11:11 ... Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Sara wanted a child. But it was not this wanting that brought the strength to bear the child. That which brought the strength was Sara hearing the word spoken by the angel concerning the matter. And after the word came, Sara knew God was faithful to perform that word.
It is the same with us today. We hear the word from the Spirit of God and faith comes into our heart. First there comes the word on the issue. Then faith.
At the end of the daily writings, we are now listing Bible chapters to encourage you to read more Bible. Something happens to us when we read these entire chapters. The presence of God fills us as we choose to focus on HIS word. By listing these chapters, we give more opportunity to encourage us to fill ourselves with more of the word of God. You could find chapters by yourself. But will you? Or do you find you are reading more Bible since we began listing these chapters with each daily section of writing on the blog. The blog is a bit like God's daily newspaper. We read the various writings and then we read all these chapters for ourselves. I find good fruit comes when I read these chapters. I think you will find that also. It is simply fruit we might not have had if left to our own devices and to the pull of the world and the many options present by events of the world.

Philippians 4:6-8 ... Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Jesus said ...No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of (by) God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of (from) the Father, cometh unto me.
Those people chosen by God to be HIS people are taught by God. God puts HIS truth into the hearts of HIS people so when we hear others speak we know truth from deception because we have been taught by God.
It is not that we are taught about God by others. We are taught by God HIMSELF.
And every one who belongs to God hears directly from God and therefore has learned from the Father and the ones who learn from God come to the Word of God.
It is not done by scholarly study as one would do in a language class in college.
In spiritual matters God simply chooses HIS people and puts truth into their hearts and into their minds. This is the new covenant church.
Heb. 8 ... For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13In that he saith, A new covenant,
Several years ago, I was given the following dream: A war was going on and we couldn't tell our army from the enemy because we all wore the same clothing. So we were given a password. When we spoke that password we could recognize each other.
So many people today say they are Christian. They say, Jesus is Lord. But when we speak the word of God to them they do not understand what we are saying. They have a "form of Godliness" as Paul spoke of in II Tim. 3 ... but they are not really taught by God and they are not HIS people.
Those who really belong to God are taught by God. They have learned from God HIMSELF for God has put the truth into their hearts and minds. Heb. 8 & Heb. 10
And Jesus says no man can come to Him unless the Father draw him. (Jn. 6:44)
We are truly the elect of God just as the children of Israel in the OT were the elect of God, the people chosen by God to be HIS people.
It is not of ourselves nor of our will but by the will of God. Romans 9
Acts 2:47 ... And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

A few days ago, this scripture caught my attention:
Heb. 11:11 ... Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Sarah judged God to be faithful.
Do we judge God to be faithful.
We are told in Isa. 46 that God will carry us to our old age. He will bear us. He will deliver us.

Secret to endurance

Several years ago, I heard the following from the Holy Spirit: "There is a secret to endurance. I will show you."
As the iniquity increases around us, we cannot afford to focus on the iniquity. If we focus on the iniquity we will be pulled down by the lack of justice.
What we must do is to make our minds focus on the following:
Phil. 4:8 ... Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Injustice of this world can pull us down.
We build ourselves up in the faith by focusing on Bible examples and words we have heard from the Spirit of God.
We cannot live in negative and overcome.
I'm sure there are certain things on TV that we are better off not watching for they would fill us with negative things and things opposite to faith in God. There are people we best avoid because we know their conversation and it is an evil report and not good. We have to control our minds concerning making plans for tomorrow. Jesus might return tonight! And we remember Jesus saying: Take no thought for the morrow. Mt. 6 We learn to focus on today and to be content with having food and clothing. I Tim. 6 Rejoice that God has provided for us today! That is godly.
We labor to enter into HIS rest. Heb. 4 And it is a labor.
Several years ago, I heard the following from the Holy Spirit: "There is a secret to endurance. I will show you."
As the iniquity increases around us, we cannot afford to focus on the iniquity. If we focus on the iniquity we will be pulled down by the lack of justice.
What we must do is to make our minds focus on the following:
Phil. 4:8 ... Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Injustice of this world can pull us down.
We build ourselves up in the faith by focusing on Bible examples and words we have heard from the Spirit of God.
We cannot live in negative and overcome.
I'm sure there are certain things on TV that we are better off not watching for they would fill us with negative things and things opposite to faith in God. There are people we best avoid because we know their conversation and it is an evil report and not good. We have to control our minds concerning making plans for tomorrow. Jesus might return tonight! And we remember Jesus saying: Take no thought for the morrow. Mt. 6 We learn to focus on today and to be content with having food and clothing. I Tim. 6 Rejoice that God has provided for us today! That is godly.
We labor to enter into HIS rest. Heb. 4 And it is a labor.
