* If we live after the flesh we will die.

Joan Boney ... apostle and prophet
of Jesus Christ
according to
Ephesians 4:11-12.

*****

Our flesh brings ideas to our mind.  The Spirit of God who lives in us brings ideas to our mind.

Our flesh and the Spirit of God are contrary to each other, presenting opposite ideas.

We must choose to go in the way presented by the Spirit, keeping our flesh crucified by that Word given us by God by the Spirit.

This is the entire theme of the early verses of Romans 8.

Romans 8

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

***

Our own flesh tries to get us to go in a way opposite to God's way.  This is always the goal of the flesh.

We keep control by recognizing danger and deliberately going in a way opposite to the flesh, walking in that way shown us by the Spirit.

(Pray always, asking God to help you.)

Romans 13:15   But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ (The Word), and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

(In the area where you are likely to be tempted, store up scriptures to help you and meditate day and night on these scriptures until they get strong enough in you to overcome your own flesh ... and pray, asking God for help!)

***

I've heard people say it doesn't hurt to look.  This is wrong.  To look, pleases your own flesh, yielding yourself to your flesh.

Jesus said:

Matthew 5:27-28  Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:  But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

***

King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.  God warned him not to go after "strange flesh" for that woman would cause him to depart from God.

Solomon did not heed the warning, though the warning was from God.

I Kings 9

God said to Solomon:

4 And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

6 But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

8 And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?

9 And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

***

God prospered Solomon and gave him great wisdom:

I Kings 10:23-24    So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom. And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

***

The downfall of Solomon:

I Kings 11

But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon,

Some in churches today are being led to think they can do all manner of worldly things and still be okay with God.

Notice that Paul tells us, in the New Testament church, that if we choose to walk after the flesh, we will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

(As GOD rent the kingdom from Solomon, so shall GOD rend the kingdom from those today who willfully sin after the knowledge of the truth.)

Revelation 3:5   Jesus says:  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before MY Father, and before His angels.

Many play around with evil, enjoying standing on the brink of destruction, somehow foolishly thinking they can do this and not be touched because they call Jesus their Lord and they have forgiveness of sins through Jesus.

They have missed the following:

Hebrews 10

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

II Peter 2

20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Hebrews 6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame.

Sadly, I know examples of people who went too far, in tempting God.

* The Sunday school teacher at the church I once attended was a divorced man.  He lived two lives.  A private life and a church life.  In his private life, he was going to bars, drinking and seeking to attract women to himself.  Of course he hid this life from us at church but he forgot that he could not hide from God.

I learned from a secular person that this man had a "girlfriend".

None of us, to my knowledge, knew he had a girlfriend.

When I found out about this, I went to him.

At first he was very evasive.

Then I said to him, "Are you having sexual intercourse with this girlfriend?"

He replied, "Of course."

I was devastated.

I said, "You know the Bible as well as I do.  I can have no more to do with you."

"That's right," he said.  He didn't seem to care.

Paul said:  I Corinthians 5:11;13   But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat... Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Don't counsel him.  Don't pray for him.  Put him away.

The only hope I see for him is the following:

Paul said:  I Corinthians 5:4-5 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,  To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

***

A woman came among us and stayed with us 39 years before departing from us:

She had been raised in a church from the time she was a baby.  She even told me she thought her mother was a prophet.

She did some incredibly ungodly things, though her outward appearance was that she was a very "nice" person.

In her last years with us, she said to me, "Women have such great power over men."

(I saw great lust here.)

I don't know if she was ever born again but she spent a life in churches.

Some of her evils along the way, which unfortunately she confessed to me:  adultery against her first husband, abortion, divorce and remarriage and divorce again.

She went to church all her life, but she was not a godly woman, inwardly:  Lusting over power over men; exalting herself over others by appearance; deceiving and being deceived.

I find women today are often very evil, while controlling men through sex and physical appearance.

This is opposite to a godly woman:

Proverbs 31

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

***

Sins are the following:  Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:  (Galatians 5:19-21)

Our sins are forgiven when we are born again.

But to sin after we are born again, after we have the knowledge of the truth and have tasted the word of God, is to try to crucify Jesus a second time for our sins.

To sit among the church while doing sins of the flesh is deadly.

And to tempt God will likely be fatal.

Galatians 5:16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

***

Romans 8

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
