The soul and the outward man, the body

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

II Corinthians 4:14, 16    Knowing that HE which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

... For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

***

Each of us have a body ... and inside that bodily shell, there is a soul, which is really the essence of us.

Sometimes there is so much focus on maintaining the body that one forgets the soul which will endure forever to redemption or to damnation.

***

The "outward man", the body, does perish one way or another.

The soul is eternal to salvation or damnation... but forever one way or another.

***

Paul explains:

I Corinthians 15:47-52    The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep
(die), but we shall all be changed,

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

This change will happen "in the twinkling of an eye" ... blink ... we will be changed by God that fast.

***

... flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God ...

These physical bodies cannot go with us into the new heaven at the resurrection.

Paul even says God will give us a new body as it pleases Him.  (I Corinthians 15:38)

***

When a person dies you see a physical body of that person remaining, but the soul (spirit) of that person is no longer evidenced inside that physical body.

Would we have any physical problems if not for the physical body?

The physical body is subject to "corruption" through decay, accident, and disease.

***

God showed the apostle John the new heaven and the new earth, the new Jerusalem.

Revelation 21:1-5    And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

***

God will give us new bodies as pleases HIM.  (I Corinthians 15:38)

Our heavenly "physical" body will not be like the earthly body which is subject to decay, deterioration, pain, emotions, sorrow.

The new body, given by God, will not have pain or sorrow.

The prophet Moses did not have the common physical problems, so far as we know.  There is no record of such in the Bible.

And we read this of Moses:

Deuteronomy 34:7   And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Though most people have physical problems before death, it is not something that has to happen.  Some simply fall asleep (die).  I have heard of such things.

My own mother had no physical problems and no doctor until she was 94 and fell on a slippery rug and broke a hip.  She lived to be 97 and was never physically ill.  (She never even had a common cold!)

So it could be that way.

My own physical problems have been caused, mainly, by accidental falls.  The first fall came in the night as I was trying to shut the front door of my house in summer time.  It had been warm, and I had left the door open.  I went to the door to shut it and had the thought to turn on the light, which I did not do Now I believe that was instruction from God, for as I closed the front door and turned around, I fell over a box that was sitting at left side of the front door.  I fell onto a wood floor and broke a hip.  Had the light been on, I think I might have seen the box.

In Bible, we read of a man in the church who was committing fornication.

Paul said:  In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.  (I Corinthians 5:4-5)
A man who calls himself a Christian should know better than to commit fornication.

So I can see such sins bringing on destruction of the flesh of the man committing the sins.

***

Another scripture which shows problems brought on by sin, has to do with the way we handle the Bible.  If we handle scripture wrongly, failing to apply such instruction to our lives, then we read the following consequences.

I Corinthians 11:28-31    But let a man examine himself (by Bible as he reads scripture), and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup (examining himself).

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (die).

For if we would judge ourselves (by Bible as we read Bible, making needed corrections to our lives), we should not be judged.

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

(Not all physical problems are caused by sin, but I believe many are because of sin, by failing to conform ourselves, in a proper way, to the Bible.)

***

The scriptures cited in this writing give us cause to believe we will not have these current physical bodies in heaven.

Paul tells us what will happen when Jesus returns.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18    But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent
(precede/go before) them which are asleep (dead).

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Notice:  we will meet them "in the air" ...

This present heaven and earth will be destroyed by God so we will not be able to live here.  We will be taken to the new heaven and new earth, the new Jerusalem, which is described by the apostle John and recorded for us in Revelation 21.

The apostle Peter tells us, in the day of the Lord, this present heaven and earth will be destroyed by God.

II Peter 3:10-14    But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
