These scriptures are foundations for building a life of peace on this present earth and escaping from destructive thoughts.

When we make each of these scriptures a way of life in our thinking, doing them daily as we go about life, we will eliminate many destructive thoughts that come to our minds to torment us.

A great many of the destructive thoughts we have deal with past sins.  And we are so sorry we did that.  The thought is too painful to bear and we frequently try to quickly run away when that thought of what we said or what we did or what we failed to do comes to mind.

The solution is:

I John 1:7  The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

When we enter into this understanding and accept the fact that none of us are worthy nor will be ever be able to earn worthiness aside from Jesus Christ, then we can come to live in peace knowing Jesus paid for our sins with His own blood.

Therefore HE, Jesus, washed away our sins and made us spotless and through HIM we come to God by HIS Word.

After we are born again, we wouldn't do those sins we once did.  We are sorry aren't we?

We can't undo the past but we can overcome by accepting that Jesus paid for each sin we committed with His own blood.  HIS blood paid for "all" sin.  No sin is stronger than the blood of Jesus.

***

There is a woman in our little church group who had an abortion before she was born again.  She said even enroute to have the abortion she was hoping her husband would change his mind and want to keep the child.

She has been able to accept the blood of Jesus concerning her other past sins of drunkenness, adultery, fornication … but she told me the subject of abortion troubled her.

This showed she had never entered into the healing of the blood of Jesus on that sin.

I pointed out to her that the apostle Paul caused the followers of Jesus to be killed prior to the time Jesus revealed HIMSELF to Paul on the road to Damascus.  Yet there is no indication Paul thought on those murders.

In fact Paul said:

Philippians 3:13-15   Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded.

***

Paul understood the only thing that can wipe out our past sins is the blood of Jesus and faith in the blood of Jesus as spoken by the scriptures.

Romans 5:1    Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

8-9   But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

***

As long as we try to make ourselves worthy, we will wallow in our sins.

When we accept the worthiness of Jesus to pay for what we did, we free ourselves by faith in HIS blood.

So until you enter into this, keep these scriptures before you day and night so you can come to believe what we read in the Bible.

I John 1:7  The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5    Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

When you believe these truths, your past sins will no longer be trouble and pain to you and most likely you will not often have them brought to your mind!

And if past sins do come to mind, just look again at these scriptures.

Also I recommend these hymns:

* Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow'r

* Power in the Blood
