* The work of apostle in the church

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

After the crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus gave to the church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.  Ephesians 4:11

An apostle of Jesus is very strongly centered in bringing the doctrines of Christ to the church and in setting in order things of God in the church.

An apostle deals with the church, with those individuals who profess to be Christians.

The apostle is sent to the believers and is concerned with that which is right in the sight of God.

When we read through the New Testament, we see how the apostle Paul went from church to church showing the church the rules of God for the godly and how to live in the church.

For example:

* concerning bishops (who are also called elder)

I Timothy 3:1-5    This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.  A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without (outside of the church); lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

*  concerning treatment of widows in the church

II Timothy 5:3-10    Honour widows that are widows indeed.

But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old
(60 years old and upward), having been the wife of one man.
Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

*  concerning sexual conduct

I Corinthians 7 ...  to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

10-11   And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

39   The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

* dealing with wrongdoers in the church

I Corinthians 5:11    But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

As you read the epistles, you will see how God used Paul to set the church in proper order and to show the church the right way for them to live on this earth.

NT apostles are always concerned with the church (not with the world) ... and they will set things in the order prescribed by God in the church and in the way for righteous people of God to live.

*****

There are people today who say they are of God but come to us discarding all rules set up in the NT church as shown in the Bible.

They preach love and forgiveness without repentance and without change.

These men are antichrist and by their doctrine they destroy the churches.

The apostle Paul told us this would happen in the last days.  II Thessalonians 2

Paul said turn away from those who look godly but deny the power (of the scriptures to rule over you).  II Timothy 3:5

Continue in the Holy Scripture.

II Timothy 3:16   All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Jesus said, to the woman taken in adultery:  "Go ... and sin no more."

Antichrist in the church says:  "God loves you and forgives you."  They do not tell the people the wrong they are doing is sin.  They approve the sinners in their sin.

Paul says otherwise.

Paul says: Be not deceived ... the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.  To do acts of adultery, fornication, drunkenness cannot be continued in those who are "brothers" in Christ.

Hebrews 10:26-31   For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

For we know Him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto ME, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge His people.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

*****

The apostles of God will never accept sin in the church and will cling to the doctrines of Christ as they are set forth in the Bible.
