Abide in HIM
I Jn. 2:27-28 ... But the anointing which ye have received of HIM abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in HIM.

God has given each of us HIS Spirit. As we go through this life, issues arise and we have choices as to which way to go, and choices as to what we are to believe.
The Holy Spirit reminds us of the word of God which is the will of God.
We must choose that which the Holy Spirit speaks ... We must continue in that.
We must examine the ideas to see if they are from God. The devil sends ideas that seem good.
Prov. 14:12 ... There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
(This exact scripture is repeated in Proverbs 16)

I Peter 5:8 ... Be sober (clear minded), be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
We must examine those ideas and "doctrines" to see if they are of God ... before choosing the one to follow.
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith,

The tricky thing is the devil doesn't come to us saying, "I'm the devil." The devil often comes to us as "an angel of light", Paul explains.
The idea seems like "light" ... it may even seem like a revelation from God to you.
Examine it through prayer and by paying attention to counter ideas which the Holy Spirit might bring to you against that idea from devil.
James 3:17-18 ... But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

God is light and there is no darkness in HIM. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and there is no lie, no falseness, no pretense, in the Holy Spirit.
The problem is the devil can seem like light and like truth.
Be careful ... We must choose the way given by the Holy Spirit.
Pray ... let God establish the way for you to go.
If we have pride ... if we desire honor for ourselves ... we have set the foundation for the devil.
If we have jealousy we are in trouble.
Envy/strife brings about confusion and every evil work ... James 3
We must lay for ourselves a good foundation which closes many doors for temptations.
We must refresh our minds to the Bible and keep ourselves by choosing to go in the way of God.
God can keep us if we choose HIS way.
But the devil seems like "an angel of light" ...
II Cor. 11:12-15 ... But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
