The doctrine of Christ which is according to godliness

It is amazing to think of this but when we chose a church to attend, which of us examined the doctrine being taught by that church?  Didn't we just follow a family member or friend to that church without considering Bible and what that church actually taught?

Paul speaks of:   "the doctrine that is according to godliness." 

II Timothy 6    If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;  He is proud, knowing nothing,

These are the words of Jesus Christ in the Bible ... the doctrine of Christ for the church:

When divorce & remarriage is adultery:

Matthew 5:32    (Jesus says)  But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

3 forms of sin in divorce & remarriage:

- the husband causes the woman to commit adultery upon remarriage when he divorces a faithful wife ... Also in Matthew 19 Jesus says this husband commits adultery when he divorces a faithful wife and marries another woman.
- the divorced woman commits adultery upon remarriage while her husband is still living
- the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery  (also restated in Matthew 19)

A man in our little church group filed divorce proceedings against his wife.  When I learned of this, I called him immediately and asked him, "Was your wife unfaithful to you?"

He replied she was not unfaithful.

I told him the only scriptural reason to divorce his wife was if she had been unfaithful.

He apparently believed those scriptures for he dropped the divorce proceedings from the court.

Matthew 19:9    And HE (Jesus) answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that HE (God) which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?   Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?


He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.


And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

Most churches I have attended have "singles classes".  In such, the majority in these classes are divorced women, with many divorced men also.  They meet and desire Christian mates.  And the churches promote such and approve marriage among divorced women.

Jesus forgave the woman taken in adultery but Jesus said:  "Go, and sin no more."

She was not approved to continue in adultery, nor to commit adultery by remarriage when her husband is still living.

*  If the man marries a divorced woman he commits adultery, according to Bible.   Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19 


This should be the doctrine of each church group.  But they have turned away from this doctrine of Christ and approve the opposite in the church ... antichrist, anarchy in the church group.

*   The commandment of the Lord concerning the divorced woman:  let her remain unmarried or return to her husband.

I Corinthians 7:10-11    And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

According to Bible, if a divorced woman remarries while her husband is still living, she shall be called an adulteress.

Romans 7:1-3    Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?  For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.  So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

There is another very important thing to consider:

Galatians 5:19-21    Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft (superstitions), hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Before we were born again, we did these sins of the flesh.  These sins were "washed away" by Jesus and we were recreated by God, born again, so that we would no longer follow our flesh as we once did.

After we are born again we are free from sin that we might serve God.

But if we choose to return to our sins and live in those sins, look what the Bible says about that.

Hebrews 10:26-31    For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,  But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.


He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:


Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?


For we know HIM that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto ME, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge HIS people.


It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Some very terrible things are being taught today and approved today by pastors and in church groups.  It is the end time apostasy in the church as spoken by the apostle Paul in II Thessalonians 2.

We must not be a part of this doctrine which is opposite to the doctrine of Christ.

The world today teaches and approves many things that are opposite to doctrine of Bible and churches today are very often going along with the world and approving various things which are sins according to the Bible.

Concerning homosexuals & lesbians:

Homosexuals are often saying they were born homosexuals and as long as they can remember they felt this way.  The world approves them because this is what they are saying about themselves.

So they reason if you are born homosexual it is not a sin.

But the Bible tells us about homosexuals and lesbians.  According to the Bible, homosexuals and lesbians chose to go against nature and God turned them over to a reprobate mind to do these "vile" acts.

Romans 1:26-28   For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

We must not go along with doctrines which are opposite to scripture.  Instead cling to scripture and when you hear another doctrine, return to the Bible and reread scripture and reestablish the truth of God in your mind so you will not fall away from the doctrine of Christ.

Another deadly teaching of the world today from the medical profession is the doctrine that drunkenness is a disease. 

According to the Bible, drunkenness is not a disease but is a work of the flesh and they which do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I Corinthians 6:9-10    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

The apostle Paul warned us that in the last days, before Jesus returned, the churches would fall away from scripture, the apostasy would come into the church groups.  It would happen by the removal of specific scripture from the group and by setting up another doctrine in the church group.

This is exactly what is happening today.

We see church groups which once taught these doctrines but now they have changed the doctrine to another doctrine.

This is the apostasy in the church, the falling away from scripture.

II Thessalonians 2:3-7    NASB   Let no one in any way deceive you, for it (the day of the LORD) will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.   Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?   And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.   For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.

God restrained antichrist until HE was taken away by the removal of the various scripture.  The scripture was the restraint.  When they removed those scriptures the restraint against antichrist was removed and lawlessness moved into the church group.

We must not be a part of this.

We must speak to ourselves correct doctrine of the Bible and hold fast to that doctrine, keeping that doctrine before us day and night, for end-time teachings, opposite to the doctrine of Christ in the Bible, are rampant in the world and in church groups who have chosen the way of the world seeking approval of world.
