Our main goal as we wait for the return of Jesus should be to live in peace, without spot, and blameless as told us by the apostle Peter in the following scripture.
2 Peter 3
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

One of our downfalls can be curiosity.
Recently there was a story of a young man who told many lies while running for congress. He was elected but before being sworn into office they began to discover these lies he had made up about his resume. It was shocking.
A follow up story appeared on CNN but I was reminded of this scripture: The apostle Paul said, Abstain from all appearance of evil. (I Thessalonians 5:22)
After hearing that from the Spirit of God, I put my Kindle tablet down and did not look up the story.
Jesus taught HIS disciples to pray:
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: (Mt. 6:13)
Paul said:
When we walk in the Spirit, doing that which HE brings to mind, we will be removed from harmful things.
For the Spirit will bring us ideas which lead us into love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: (Gal. 5:22-23)
