Reprove, rebuke, exhort

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

II Timothy 4 ... the apostle Paul said ... 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Be "instant" ... in season, out of season ... in the church setting and in the world setting ... things pop up that are wrong ...

A few days ago, I was speaking with Pam Padgett who has been helping two of our church group to set up e-reading devices.  Pam made a statement that she would call them to share something she had just discovered about the device.  The Pam hesitated and added, "Maybe I will wait to call them ... they might be having their dinner now ... I can take the dogs for a walk and then call ..."

I quickly said, "Don't live that way ..."  meaning don't let your own reasoning draw you away from the issue that way ...

Instantly, I was reminded of the following scripture which "reproved" the issue ... caused us to prove again the way to go ...

Eccl. 11 ...  4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

It was the Holy Spirit reminding me of this scripture to give us solid ground in the way to go, in the way of God.

This is a form of being instant, in season and out, and reproofing ... "(proving again) ... the way to go by the Spirit of God.

==========

Paul also told us to be ready (instant) to rebuke ...  To me rebuke means "to drive them back" from an unwise way or a way opposite to the way of God ... to restore them to the right way ...

==========

exhort:   means ... to urge earnestly by advise or warning

Though Paul was speaking to Timothy, an evangelist, we have to realize this entire body of scripture was inspired by God and is profitable to us today ... profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.  II Tim. 3

And we must "be instant", not preparing ahead what we will say of our own thinking, of our own flesh, but depending on God to bring forth the correct doctrine through us at the second it happens, allowing the Spirit of God to operate through us, quench not the Spirit ...

We who are of God carry inside us the Spirit of God ...  We must allow truth to come forth from us.  We are carriers of light ... they are darkness.

Mt. 5 ... Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
