Psalm 85 ... Prayers to God & Promises from God to the Church

1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land:
thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people,
thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath:
thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation,
and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever?
wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again:
that thy people may rejoice in thee
?

7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord,
and grant us thy salvation.

8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak:
for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints:

but let them not turn again to folly.

9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him;
that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together;
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth;
and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good;
and our land shall yield her increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before him;
and shall set us in the way of his steps.

12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good;

The problem is:  God's view of good and our view of good may not be the same ...

A little child might want to live on chocolate.  The parent might have other plans.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray ... Thy will be done ... (Mt. 6:10)

God's plan for Jesus was the cross.  Jesus prayed three times for this to be removed from Him.

Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Isaiah 55 ...  8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither,
but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace:
the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree,
and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree:
and it shall be to the Lord for a name,
for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
