Psalm 79 ... Prayers to God & Promises from God to the Church

1 O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance;
thy holy temple have they defiled;

they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given
to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven,
the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3 Their blood have they shed like water
round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours,
a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

5 How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever?
shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee,
and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

7 For they have devoured Jacob,
and laid waste his dwelling place
.

8 O remember not against us former iniquities:
let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us:
for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name:
and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God?
let him be known among the heathen in our sight
by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee;
according to the greatness of thy power
preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom
their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture
will give thee thanks for ever:
we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

They come saying they are Christians.  They come saying Jesus is Lord.  But they worship all manner of worldly things and try to lead me in their path.

They do same today as they did in time this Psalm 79 was written ...

1 O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance;
thy holy temple have they defiled;

they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

  7 For they have devoured Jacob,
and laid waste his dwelling place
.

But I want to think on the works of God, of HIS power and greatness...

we will shew forth Thy praise to all generations.   We think of God bringing the children of Israel out of the bondage of the Egyptians.  600,000 men plus women and children walking out with no provision.  But God was their provision.  God created water for them out of the rock (Christ).  None lacked.  There was plenty for all.  Their shoes didn't even wear out over 40 years.  None was feeble among them.  God fed them daily.  There was provision continually for all.

Then there was Daniel who did not want to eat the food of the world with the people of the world.

 Daniel 1 ... 3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;
4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank:so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

(The king wanted to make them fit to be in his presence.)

8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank:

therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs. 10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink:for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. 13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat:and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

They want to feed us with the wisdom of this world ... but we have the wisdom that is from God.

They want us to eat the news of this world ... but God shows us all that we need and everything else needlessly troubles us.

They say we can't be alone.  They plan things and include us in those plans.

We are already fairer than they are who eat at the table of the world.

We, who have the Spirit of God and hear from God by HIS Spirit, have everything already!

Like Saul, they would dress us in their armor.  But like David, we have proven that which works and we refuse the armor of Saul.  We have already been selected and clothed by God.  HE is our shield and armor.

We are dressed in the word of God, in God's wisdom for the moment in time.  And we go in that wisdom.  And we prosper (have good success) in all that we do.

Several years ago, I attended a faith movement church.  But their faith was in their own ability to find a scripture to stand on.  God was leading me to stand on scripture but it was scripture HE gave me at that exact moment by HIS Spirit.

A few years later, I came out of that movement and our Bible teacher came out also.  I was talking with him and I told him I didn't know I was any different from the people in that faith moment.  I thought I was like them.  Don said:  "Joan ... you were never like them."

We both stood on scripture and our faith was in the scripture ... But in their case, they found the scripture by looking with their own minds.  I heard the scripture from God by HIS Spirit and went forward with that which God spoke to me.

Don said all the time in that movement when they spoke of faith, he thought:  "Joan is the one who really lives by faith."

Truly, my faith was in what God said to me.  Their faith was in that which they could discover for themselves.

It was a great gulf between us!  But it looked, at the time, to be the same.  The difference was the Holy Spirit.

==========

Paul told us in the last days "perilous" times would come ... II Tim. 3

It may seem like everything is okay, but from what I see these times are very dangerous "to our soul".

Paul said men would be lovers of their own flesh and have a form of godliness but would deny the power thereof.  II Tim. 3

As we draw nearer to the return of Jesus the scriptures say for us to exhort one another "and even more" ... Jesus said it would get so bad that even the elect would not be saved unless the days were shortened.  But for the elect's sake the days would be shortened.  Mt. 24
