The day of the Lord is coming ...


Amos 5:18-20    Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

So you desire the day of the Lord ... the second coming of Jesus ...

I do believe those who cling to scripture and belong to God will be taken out before the wrath of God comes.  I Thessalonians 5


But so many churches today have turned from scripture and are substituting other doctrines for the doctrines of Christ.  When they do that, will they escape the wrath of God?  When the day of the Lord comes, if you are among them, will you be able to escape the wrath of God? 

It is now clear to me that the apostasy had to happen in the churches before Jesus could return so the stage is set now for the return of Jesus.

But the prophet Amos gives us a view of what it will be like for those who are not removed from this earth before this day ... it will be one terrible trouble after another ... It is also often described in Bible as a trouble unlike anything seen before.  See Daniel 12 and Matthew 24.


Also Revelation 8 shows us some of the difference in types of troubles in the day of the Lord.

  And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

... 6-13   And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

But it is coming upon the whole world. 

And maybe in our life time! 

Certainly the apostasy has been going on in church groups and is getting worse.  That had to happen before Jesus returns according to the apostle Paul.

I Thessalonians 2    NASB    Let no one in any way deceive you, for it (the day of the Lord) will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.


In the KJV, the "apostasy" in the church is called "the falling away."   Churches would fall away from portions of scripture.  That is rampant today in church groups!

The lawless one would come into the temple of God and take his seat in the temple of God, showing himself to be god by eliminating scripture.

As long as the church group held fast to all scripture, antichrist was restrained.

The restraint against antichrist was removed when the church group moved away from specific portions of scripture for this allowed lawlessness to come into the church.

You can't change this once it happens in the church group. 

All you can do is remove yourself from church groups where scripture has been removed.

Peter tells us: 

II Peter 3:10-14    But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 

To sit in a church group where scripture is denied would not show you to be "blameless".

Nor could you, who are of God, sit there where God is denied through the elimination of portions of scripture.

Just do what Paul said to do:

II Timothy 3:5     Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

The church cannot live like the world and escape the wrath of God, for the wrath of God comes to judge those who live in sin.

Through the Bible, we see the way of life for those who choose it.

To avoid fornication ... let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.  Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.  Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

Sexual sins are different from all other sins ... Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith HE, shall be one flesh.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.  I Corinthians 6:15-20

I Corinthians 6:9-10    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

And if you are washed from your sins and choose to return to your previous sins, we read the following.

Hebrews 10:26-31    if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.


But consider this when tempted.

I Corinthians 10:13-14    There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.  Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

The day of the Lord is coming ... maybe even in our lifetime!
