πŸ’₯ The Law of Moses: Old Testament The Law of God: New Testament

Matthew 5:17  (Jesus says:)  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses and the prophets with HIS own blood, and with his way of life, paying for our sins and HE brought salvation by faith to the New Testament church.

(Jesus did not "destroy" the Law of Moses but to fulfill.  Inside the Christian today God has put HIS OWN HEART and SPIRIT so we can obey HIM.

There is a "Law of God" and those are the commandments of the Lord written for us in the New Testament Bible.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Many Christians today say there is "no law" today.  But what is correct, is the Law of Moses has  been replaced by the Law of God as written in the New Testament Bible and is faith in salvation through Jesus and HIS shed blood.

The law of God is written for us in the New Testament Bible.

We know Christians because in each Christian today lives the Holy Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit of Jesus.

I Corinthians 3:16   Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Today God speaks directly to us by the Holy Spirit who lives in us and teaches us all things, reminds us of all Jesus has said, guides us to all truth, and shows us things to come.  (John 14:26 & John 16:13)

We follow The Word by the Holy Spirit of God.

We have the flesh and the spirit.  Both bring ideas to our mind.

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

The apostle Paul says:

Galatians 5

Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

After we are born again, God gives us a new heart and a new spirit, the Spirit of Christ.  We are completely changed.

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Galatians 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

Ezekiel 36  (God describes the New Testament Christian as follows)

23 And I will sanctify MY great name, which was profaned (made secular) among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

(Some people knew us before we were born again and they say, "What happened to Joan?  She's changed.  She's different."

24  (God says) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put MY spirit within you, and cause you to walk in MY statutes, and ye shall keep MY judgments, and do them.

And God does it instantly.  We have a new heart, an heart of God, and a new Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, and we do not want to do those things we did before.  We do not want to run around with the people we ran around with before.  We no longer have much in common with them as we once did for God changed us.  Now we want to be with other people of God.  We want to go to church.  We want to read the Bible and know God and be taught by God.  God puts HIS laws in our hearts as if we had a transplant with an heart filled with the laws of God.  WE ARE CHANGED!  forever ... ) a miracle!

It is not that we learn to be godly.  We are godly.  We are different because God gave us HIS heart and HIS Spirit!

The Holy Spirit brings to our mind the way of Christ, The Word.  By the Word, we choose God's way to go on this earth. Thus by choosing that which the Holy Spirit shows us we keep ourselves crucified with Christ, keeping our flesh dead and choosing the way of God, the way of the Spirit.

Now we have a new heart and a new spirit in us and we know sin and it is wrong to us.  And we follow the Holy Spirit which shows us the right way of God and when we read a scripture that way is confirmed to us and we choose that way.

There are commandment of God given to us throughout the New Testament Bible.  Here is a commandment of God given to the church by the apostle Paul.

I Corinthians 7:10-11  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

In the Old Testament, the woman who had sex with another man who was not her husband was killed.

I know there are penalties today if a woman does this and the man who marries the divorced woman commits adultery and he suffer penalties.

Most of the women I know who have committed adultery were church goers at the time and knew by the letter of the law what they were doing was wrong but neither of these women were truly born again at that time.

I said to one of these women who committed fornication and adultery, "But you wouldn't do that today, would you?"  She said, "No."  (Now she has a new heart and a new spirit.)

My Church of Christ cousin heard me talk after I was born again and said said:  "Well ... I believe you are a Christian.  I just don't know how you can be."  (She didn't understand being "born again" by God's Spirit changing you.  She had a doctrine of works.)

Being born again by God's Spirit is a great miracle of God and each of us who experience this are completely different and now God lives in us by the Holy Spirit!

I Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

The Holy Spirit of God that is in us shows us sin and we do not want to do that because it is not right in the sight of God and we now serve HIM and though we live in a fleshly form, we no longer walk in the ideas of our flesh but now we walk in those things brought to our mind by HIS Spirit who lives in us doing right in the sight of God by the Spirit.
