I Timothy 4:7
But refuse profane (secular sayings) and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
***
Refuse secular beliefs and hold to Scripture:
* 13 is an unlucky number. (Not in Bible)
* Do not wish anyone well unless they bring the doctrines of Christ for if you do this you partake in their evil deeds. (II John) Therefore avoid such things as clicking drink glasses together at dinners, wishing well to the other person.
* At weddings, when bride throws bouquet, and the women try to catch it for "luck" , hoping to be the next to marry. (Not in Bible, therefore trusting in superstitions of humans rather than trusting in the living God.)
* Ministers of Jesus are called apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. (Ephesians 4)
* Lord's Supper, communion, is partaking of The Word of God and living by The Word of God in our lives on this present earth.
Do not live by profane and old wives tales. Examine all that you do by New Testament Bible through Holy Spirit of Jesus.
