Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet
In verse 4, of the hymn, "Standing on the promises of God," we sing the following:
4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

What does this mean? Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword?
How do you do that?
*****
What is "the Spirit's sword"?
This is defined for us in Ephesians 6. We are told to put on the whole armor of God that we could stand against the wiles of devil.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of HIS might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The Holy Spirit of God brings thoughts from God to our minds concerning what we should do and say as we live on this present earth.
As we pay attention to thoughts brought by the Spirit and do those things, we "put on" the armor of God.
In the hymn, this means living daily by those thoughts brought to us by the Spirit.

HYMN: Standing on the Promises of God
(Click forward arrow > to play music:)
1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Chorus:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
3. Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
5. Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

We enter into things of God by paying attention to those things brought to our thoughts by the Spirit of God and especially by doing them by faith.
Jesus told us of 4 things the Spirit of God does for the believer.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear (from God), that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
