In December, 2018, Joan Boney fell and needed surgery on both her hip and arm. After spending several weeks in a rehab center, Joan traveled from Texas to Colorado Springs to live in my home.
About a week before Joan moved here she asked me to see about getting something like the call button she used at the rehab center when she needed someone to come to her room for something.
I had never heard of such a thing for a home, but told Joan I would see about this.
As I sat down at my computer I had no idea how to describe what we were looking for. I prayed asking God to help me.
James 1:5 If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and abraideth not, AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN HIM.
Immediately, words to search for on Amazon came to my mind, and products that would work came up on the amazon.com web site.
The system I ordered has turned out to be very helpful.
If Joan needs me to come to her room, she doesn't have to yell. She just presses the button, and a sound rings on the receivers. The receivers plug into any electrical outlet. Very simple. I have one downstairs which I can easily hear when in the kitchen, and one upstairs.
This product might be helpful to others as well. It is called Wireless Caregiver Pager Receiver. Here is the link to one similar to the one we have ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SYPD5K
The call button is very light-weight and easy to wear.

One interesting thing happened related to this.
The second night Joan was here, Monday night, Joan fell when trying to get to the porta potty around 2am. She was not injured, but could not get up.
She had been using the call button during the day, but not keeping it around her neck at night, so she couldn't contact me using the call button when she fell. She could only call out for help.
I was asleep upstairs and did not hear her, but the dogs heard her.
The dogs, especially Gus, began barking, which was very effective to wake me!
The dogs were barking downstairs, so I started down the stairs to make them stop barking.
As I came down the stairs, I could hear Joan calling out and went to her room.
I knew I wouldn't be able to get Joan up, so called the fire department and they came and helped Joan get up from the floor. She didn't think she was injured, and there was no pain as they got her up and as she walked a little. So she didn't need any medical help and was able to go back to bed.
The next morning she was sore, as would be expected, but able to get around as usual for her at this time.
Since then, Joan has started keeping the call button around her neck even at night.
But it makes me smile to see that a way was made for Joan to get help, one way or the other, when needed.
